COMPLETE REVIEW

PhonePower is a VoIP service provider based in California. The company was founded in 2005 and its services are available in 48 states in the US.

PhonePower has 3 home USA/Canada Unlimited Calling Plans: a no contract plan, a 12-month term and a monthly average plan. It also has International plans.

All home plans include 60 free international minutes per month in more than 50 countries worldwide and unlimited minutes in US, Canada and Puerto Rico. They also include the following features:

  • The ability to keep your current phone number for no additional charge
  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • A mobile phone app
  • Fax
  • Free cloned second line
  • Free activation

The sign up process is really easy. You fill in your payment details, create an online user account and you receive an email with your number.

The setup process is just as simple and requires no additional cost on your part. You will receive the PhonePower adapter via mail after you sign up and all you need to do is plug it into your router and your phone. And of course, you’ll also need a fast internet connection.

PhonePower mobile app

PhonePower offers a mobile app, too. The mobile app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and it has 29MB. You can download it for free and you sign in using your account details. The app (PhonePower) has to get access to your contacts and get permission to use notifications. The app is pretty basic and doesn’t have the most attractive design. It also has some minor bugs, such as not functioning properly with all Bluetooth headsets and crashing from time to time. All in all, although it works most of the time, the app definitely leaves room for improvement.

Main calling features included with PhonePower:

  • Voicemail/voicemail to email
  • Call waiting/Caller ID/Call hold
  • Block list
  • 3-way conference calling
  • 7, 10 & 11 digit dialing
  • Simultaneous ring
  • Speed dial
  • Softphone
  • Enhanced 911
  • Free second line
  • Free in-network calling
  • Call notifications
  • Failsafe and more

What is missing from the list of features is an SMS texting feature.

PhonePower also offers 3 International Plans: Unlimited World, Unlimited World Plus, Unlimited World Premium. Neither of them requires a contract and offer unlimited international minutes in several countries: 28 countries with the Unlimited World plan, 75 countries with the Unlimited World Plus and 87 countries with Unlimited World Premium.

One thing you should be aware of is that if you want to cancel the service after the 30-days included in the 30-day money back guarantee, PhonePower will charge you a $100 fee or you have to pay for the months left in your contract. Also, you can expect some aggressive advertising on their part, which is not something everyone can tolerate.

All in all, PhonePower is a good VoIP service. It offers all the main features and more. The mobile apps are a nice addition, although they are not 100% flawless. The quality of calls is decent and the fact that PhonePower offers a 30-day money back guarantee is reassuring.
