COMPLETE REVIEW

MobileHelp is a reputable company and has an A+ rating with the BBB. All its equipment is FDA-compliant and the company offers several medical alert services. MobileHelp boasts on answering calls for help every 4.3 minutes and they claim their services are suited for people from 19 to 110 years old.

MobileHelp has 4 products to choose from: the MobileHelp Duo, the MobileHelp Classic, MobileHelp Solo and the MobileHelp Smart (wearable).

MobileHelp Duo is their most complex product, as it offers protection both at home and on the go.

MobileHelp Classic is suited for home use and it is a cellular system with AT&T coverage.

MobileHelp Solo is tailored for people on the go and works through cellular and GPS tracking. It is the product we are going to review for you.

MobileHelp Smart is their fourth product and it is basically a smartwatch which uses 4G cellular networks and GPS tracking.

All the products come with 4 payment plans to choose from: an annual plan, a semi-annual plan, a quarterly plan and the monthly plan. You can check their prices under our “Pricing” section below.

Each plan comes with some common benefits such as free activation, free help button and free ground shipping (except for the monthly plan, which doesn’t include the free ground shipping; the monthly plan compensates through its free medication reminders).

Design and features

The MobileHelp Solo is on the bulky side when it comes to aspect and dimensions. It measures 3.4 x 2.1 x 0.6 inches (H X W X D). The device is white and simple when it comes to controls. It only has a large round Emergency button in the middle, which goes red when you press it. Below it you’ve got your indicators for signal, battery and GPS. There is also the on/off switch and a USB charging port on the right.

The MobileHelp Solo works through AT&T and you’ve also got GPS tracking. Communication is always clear and loud enough and average response times are in the 35 seconds range, which is a good number.

In the package you also get a leather pouch, the charging dock and the help button (you can opt for neck pendant or the wrist version), which has a range of 350 feet. When it comes to battery life, the MobileHelp Solo really leaves room for improvement with a battery life of only 24 hours on a single charge. The battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge and you have to make sure it is charged when you first get the device, before you start setting everything up.

Just like with the other MobileHelp products, the MobileHelp Solo can also be used with the MobileHelp Connect suite. From your online account you can benefit from several useful features such as message/e-mail alerts for different events, the possibility to access your history and to view your recent locations. With the Solo service you are entitled to 30 location requests/month. You can double that number for an extra $5. And for an extra $5 you get access to the Activity Tracking option, too, but you also need the fall detection button in order for it to work.

The MobileHelp Solo is a reliable device, easy to use and reasonably priced. However, the fact that it has such a short battery life and that it’s not waterproof, meaning you can’t wear it when you shower for instance, makes it less desirable compared to its main competitors.

Pricing

The MobileHelp Solo system has a fee of $37.95/month. The other 3 products in their offer are priced as it follows:

MobileHelp Classic is $29.95/month.

MobileHelp Duo costs $41.95/month.

The MobileHelp Smart is $349.95 for the watch and an additional $24.95/month for monitoring.

The MobileHelp Solo lets you choose between several payment plans: monthly ($37.95/month), quarterly ($104.85/every 3 months), semi-annual ($197.70/6 months) and annual ($395.40/year).

Fall detection is not included but you can get it for an additional $10/month, which is pretty much the average amount on the market.
