Daptiv PPM is one of the most complex project portfolio management solutions on the market today. In addition to project management, it also addresses portfolio, financial, resource management and more. It comes with an impressive number of features and pre-built integrations (more than 150). The company could be more transparent about their pricing and not make you go through all the hassle of contacting them and filling in forms, in order to get a quote.
Daptiv PPM is a project portfolio management solution developed by Daptiv Solutions, a company that was founded back in 1997. Daptiv Solutions was acquired by Changepoint in 2014.
Daptiv PPM is more than just a simple project management solution. It is ranked as one of the most popular cloud-based project and portfolio management tools on the market today and it has over 100,000 subscribers. It was designed as an on-demand SaaS and it is best suited for medium-size businesses with teams of around 200 members.
Daptiv has a large client base that includes names such as Kaplan, Abbey Road Group, CoBank, Prisa, Beam, Virgin Australia, Frontier Airlines, Honeywell, Mercy and many more.
This PPM solution supports several languages and regions (US, Canada, Latin America, Germany, India, Africa, Middle-East and others) and it is compatible with Mac, Windows, Android, iOS devices.
What we like about Daptiv is the fact that it comes with more than 150 built-in integrations that connect with CRM and ERP solutions.
The latest version of the software comes with more than 200 improvements and upgrades, including an increased integration with MS Project and Microsoft Outlook, the very popular “user impersonation” feature and more. The user impersonation feature lets managers impersonate certain roles when they have to do things like add comments, submit time worked, mark tasks , etc.
Daptiv PPM is fully customizable and includes myriad of tools and features for project and portfolio management, resource management, time and expense tracking, document management, collaboration, financial management and so on.
Although it is not the easiest to grasp, compared to other software we tested, and you might feel overwhelmed in the beginning, the company offers training and assistance to help you get started.
Once you start to figure it out, you will find that it is highly adaptable and customizable and offers a lot of useful tools. Daptiv comes in several templates that are industry based, such as IT Governance, Project Management Office and more, so you can choose the design that best meets your needs.
The dashboard has a drag-and drop mechanism that lets you easily customize the display.
As a project management solution you will find all the necessary features you need, from Gantt charts to project and task scheduling, setting up milestones, relocate priorities, etc.
There is a time tracker and advanced timesheets, you’ve got the ability to clone project templates, you can manage resources for multiple projects and more.
You can also monitor your projects and track issues, configure alerts, view the status for all your projects on a single dashboard and run all kinds of reports, including lesson-learned reports that help you improve future projects.
With the help of the resource management tools you can allocate resources by skill sets, create role based permissions and so on.
Daptiv lets you communicate with your colleagues through private messages in the system, which is a useful feature, because this way you don’t have to continuously witch between your inbox and Daptiv.
As we already mentioned, Daptiv also has financial management tools that will help you with various activities: making estimates, finance projects, revenue management, billing, financial forecasting and so on.
Although Daptiv is compatible with most available devices, including smartphones, there was no dedicated app available (for iOS or Android) at the moment of writing this review.
One thing we don’t appreciate about Daptiv is the fact that they’re not transparent about their pricing. There is no “Pricing” section to be found anywhere on their website and you have to contact them in order to get your free price quote. You need to fill in a form with your organization name, your industry and the number of employees.
There is also no free trial included.

Changepoint can be contacted via phone or e-mail, but there is no live chat option available. They are also not that present on social media, they just have Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.
However, you will find all kinds of resources on their website, from access to their Community to webinars and articles on various topics.
Overall though, we weren’t that impressed with their customer support, compared to competition.
