COMPLETE REVIEW

TrustFax brings simplicity to the world of online faxing. It is meant to be hassle free during all stages of dealing with it: choosing the service, setting it up and usage. Despite not being quite cheap it offers perfect availability without reported downtimes. The whole infrastructure is based on the cloud and there is nothing to download, update, or maintain. Fax transferring is mainly based on email, and all management tools are accessed only with a Web interface. All incoming faxes are converted to PDF and attached to email message for the subscriber.

Unlike some other services, TrustFax offers international faxing, and subscriptions begin with a 30-day free trial. Unfortunately, their offers are not flexible at all. There is just one single plan which allows sending a fairly low, but combined number of pages monthly. You can save additionally with an annual prepayment.

NUMBER OPTIONS

A TrustFax subscription comes with an included toll-free or local number which can be placed in one of the 50 states. The number can receive faxes from anywhere in the world without additional long distance surcharges. However, the bad news is that the provider holds the right to any numbers they give to their customers, meaning that these numbers can’t be ported out, and the only certain way to have these number associated with your business is to maintain a TrustFax subscription as long as possible.

PORTABILITY AND INTEGRATIONS

Like some other email-based online fax providers, TrustFax does not see any need to offer mobile apps to its customers. An email app would suffice for it. The files supported for sending include: Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, PDF, TIF, JPG, GIF, PNG, SNP, HTML and plain text.

Subscribers can use a web interface as their virtual fax machine. Despite the fact that is not suitable for mobile browsers, from the desktop you can use this opportunity to speed up the faxing process and increase security. TrustFax can be incorporated into MS Office so you can send faxes directly from a stance of an Office program without the need to switch to your browser or email client.

The most convenient way to fax someone is to send an email to recipientnumber@trustfax.com. The fax file needs to be attached to it, and an optional body text can be added to the document. TrustFax will automatically convert all that content into a format that can be received and printed out by any fax machine. Once the recipient accepts the fax message, you will get a receipt confirmation email.

SECURITY AND ARCHIVES

Sending faxes through the Web interface is, however, more secure, but TrustFax enables additional password protection for faxes sent via email. The user simply sets a password in the web suite, which needs to be entered in the subject line of the email whenever a fax needs to be sent this way.

This service is a participant in the Safe Harbor program developed by the Department of Commerce and the European Union. The Safe Harbor program adherence is a commercial rule set which can be compared with HIPAA governance for healthcare organizations. If you’re actually looking for HIPAA, you should look for another service, and j2 as the fax provider offers eFax as a solution that contains this feature.

TrustFax is a bit stingy when it comes to online archiving. Once sent or received, a fax message will be kept for a 30 days period after which the user is prompted to delete it or keep it stored for $0.03 per message per month.

BOTTOM LINE

Among several premium online faxing services which charge more but offer a large set of features, TrustFax might be the most redundant one. Simple, with a bit of an outdated look, quick and easy to setup and with an impeccable stability, all these make it a good choice for small or medium businesses, especially those who do not fax that much, or who need to exchange cross-border faxes.

Pricing

The flexibility and choice is not something TrustFax can be proud of. There is basically just one plan which costs $13 and includes 300 free combined pages. With an annual prepayment you will get two months for free, so it would cost you $130. Annual prepayment also extends the duration of free storage to 365 days instead of just 30. Pages in overage would cost $0.10 each.

International faxes are not included in the plan. These are billed separately and you need to contact the provider to learn the rates for certain countries.

Help/Support

Phone: 1-866-733-7040

Email: [email protected]

TrustFax has an extensive FAQ page with detailed information which can help many users with their concerns. When it is not enough, there is a phone support which is available during standard working hours on business days. There is also email support. On the other hand, this service lacks tutorials, tips and tricks, which most users will never need anyway.
