HelloFax is an online faxing service which enables users to get rid of faxing machines and save by using some of its relatively valuable plans with a long list of features, or a free plan which is very limited but still can be sufficient for some. As a brand of HelloSign, one of the leading digital signature and online security companies, HelloFax emphasizes security and trust, and is one of the easiest fax services for adding digital signatures to faxed documents.
HelloFax is one of few online faxing services to offer a free of charge plan. That plan is, however, very limited and allows only for sending five pages/month. Receiving faxes with this plan is not possible, and sending in overage is hefty. However, it may still be useful for small firms who need to fax just a single report monthly to someone who doesn’t have to follow up by faxing back to them.
Another unique possibility of this service is sending and receiving faxes internationally at no extra cost. HelloFax bills international faxes by multiplying page coefficient rather than imposing a straightforward fee. For example, a page sent to Australia will count as two “domestic” pages. Some countries have greater coefficients, though. The page-based calculation remains in use even when you get into overage, so be careful with it. For Canada and some major industrial countries outside America, such as Germany, the UK, Spain and few others, the page coefficient is 1, meaning they are billed equally as USA-bound faxes.
The third distinctive feature of HelloFax is its customizability, thanks to advanced Google integrations and custom API available to corporate subscribers. Among these, notable is Google credential synchronization i.e. you can log in to HelloFax with your Google account’s username and password.
NUMBER OPTIONS
Every HelloFax user account can choose a local US, Canada or UK-based number. The US coverage includes 50 states and Washington DC. Unfortunately, toll-free numbers are not available even if you’re willing to pay for them. Number porting is available for a $15 one-time fee per a number ported. Additional numbers cost $5/month.
A HelloFax line is always available so multiple users can fax you at the same time without getting a busy signal.
PORTABILITY AND INTEGRATIONS
HelloFax can be used through the Web interface and email. There are no designated apps to download and install on your devices. Instead, you can send and receive faxes on mobile and desktop devices using your email client. Faxes are sent by email to the address [email protected] where xxxx’s are the recipient’s number.
HelloFax Chrome Extension enables accessing the Web faxing interface and logging into your account with Google credentials. From then on, there is only one step left to adding a digital signature, and this might be the fastest way to sign a document electronically among all online fax providers who offer the e-signing feature. There is a Google Docs addon which enables instant signing and sending faxes from Google documents. This addon is very simple to use, enables adding cover page text and notifies about fax delivery.
For those who want custom integration and faster faxing procedures, HelloFax offers an API available at $2 monthly plus $0.05 per page, and there is a monthly minimum of $100. This opportunity is aimed primarily to corporate users.
SECURITY AND ARCHIVES
As a part of a digital signature service provider, the whole conception of HelloFax is based on high security and privacy without any compromises. It does not just include SSL encryption, but also physical protection of premises where HelloFax servers are located. Credit card payments are done via Stripe, a highly secure payment processor.
All faxes sent and received through HelloFax are stored for lifetime. The service comes with a Google Drive integration which extends storage and archive access possibilities.
BOTTOM LINE
Although this is not a cheap service, it is a part of a much wider online business company which takes security and privacy very seriously. Its plethora of features justify the price, and what we like the most is the fact that international faxing is included in the plans. We recommend this service to large companies and corporations who exchange faxes internationally and want a highly secure service for their most important data. Also, a free plan is good for those who send one fax monthly, since it can be completely free.
If you opt for a Free plan, you won’t be able to receive faxes, since it doesn’t come with a designated fax number. You can use this for unlimited sending, and once the initial 5 free pages run out, every next fax will be billed $1 per every fax of 1-10 pages. If the fax is longer, every page after the 10th will be billed $0.20.
Receiving faxes is possible with any of the three Paid plans as well as with the custom, corporate one.
Overage costs across all paid plans are $0.05 per page. Remember that page tokens can be used for both domestic and international faxing, inbound or outbound.
HelloFax does not feature live phone support, though it has a very useful email support team which answers quickly and gives useful answers. Additional ways of getting human support are a ticket system and a community forum, where you can get information from other users and moderators who act as the help desk.
