PROS:
CONS:
The Nixplay Advance 10 inch is a simple, user-friendly digital frame. It doesn’t have a lot of fancy smart features, but it does have the essentials: it can play videos, it has a motion sensor and a clock and calendar. If you’re looking for something that can connect to the Internet or your mobile devices, this isn’t the digital frame for you. If, however, you just want a picture frame with a generous display, simple settings and a great image quality, you can’t go wrong with the Nix Advance.
Nix Advance is developed by Nix, a division of Creedon Technologies, just like Nixplay. Creedon Technologies is a British company founded in 2007. The company has offices in UK, US, Canada, China, Philippines.
Nix Advance is one of their best-selling, non-Wi-Fi digital photo frame. Although we are going to focus on the 10 inch version, since that’s the one we tested, note that the frame is also available in 8, 12, 15, 17 and 18 inch.
The 10 inch version has the following specs:
The frame comes with one-year parts & labor warranty and 30-day money back guarantee.
The Nix Advance 10 has a plastic encasing and is on the slim side. It is easy to set up and use. It doesn’t have WiFi support, which may be a deal breaker for some. It doesn’t have internal memory either, it just comes with an 8GB SD card. It also supports SDHC and it has an USB port as well. Mac users should know that they have to format the SD card in their camera, in order for the Nix Advance to read it.
The frame comes with a remote control, but you can also control it through the buttons on the back of the frame.
While it does lack some features such as WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity, or the fact that it only supports the JPEG/JPG format, the Nix Advance does compensate with other useful features:
Overall, the Nix Advance is very straightforward. It has a great, crisp image quality and is very easy to set up, which makes it a perfect gift even for people who aren’t that much into computers and technology. It would make a nice present for the elderly, as it is easy to operate and has a large display.
The 10 inch version of the Nix Advance digital picture frame is $110. You can order it on Amazon or directly on the official website. In the box you get the frame itself, an infra-red remote, a power adapter and a 4GB USB stick.
