SUMMARY:

The most appreciated thing about SiteBuilder is its simple and user-friendly editor. This website builder is easy to use by any novice, regardless of how skilled he is in this field. SiteBuilder lacks some important features such as an App Market or a better customer support, but it comes with a free version and over a thousand templates to choose from.

COMPLETE REVIEW

SiteBuilder is a “young” website builder platform that was only launched in 2014 by a company based in UK. The company released the same product on multiple domains, so you might come across it under different names, such as Sitey.com, Sitelio.com or WebsiteBuilder.com.

This website builder is widely used thanks to its simple editor, the impressive number of available templates (thousands), the fact that it has a free version and the fact that it comes with a free domain for life, regardless of the plan you sign up for.

While the free plan doesn’t include a free domain name and does come with ads, still offers thousands of templates to choose from and allows up to 5 pages.

The Personal plan includes a free domain name and doesn’t have any annoying ads.

The Pro plan adds free email.

The Premium plan also includes SEO tools and priority support.

The highest tier is eCommerce, which comes with all the benefits in the Premium plan, plus the eCommerce store.

You should also know that if you register a free domain through SiteBuilder and then you want to cancel your account, you will be charged a $17.9 fee in you want to keep your domain.

SiteBuilder’s interface is very simple. Everything is very accessible and user-friendly, so you’ll have no trouble figuring out how everything works. The best thing about SiteBuilder is its editor. We really liked the drag-and-drop functionality and the fact that you can set buttons as “master”, so that they can appear in the same place on every page of your website.

The design panel is also very easy to use but still full of useful tools that let you adjust the color pallet of the website, the fonts, style and so on.

Another useful tool is the preview mode that lets you see how your website looks, before it is published.

When it comes to templates, SiteBuilder is well renowned for its impressive number. All plans, even the free one, come with thousands of available templates to choose from. They are grouped on categories such as: business & consultant, computers & technology, design & creative, hotels & travel, lifestyle, online store, architecture & real estate and more.

Not all of them are equally attractive or stylish, but you can really find some good ones if you browse carefully. You can also customize your templates to your taste (fonts, logo height, header spacing, the background, etc.).

One issue we noticed with SiteBuilder is the fact that sometimes it takes too long to load pages. But this is not a constant thing, so hopefully it won’t get to annoying. However, the real deal breaker for some users could be the fact that there is no App Store so you can’t add third-party apps.

Another disadvantage is the fact that at the time of writing this review, there was no direct mobile editing. All you’ve got is a Mobile View option in the desktop editor. Let’s hope SiteBuilder will change that in the near future.

If you sign up for the Premium or eCommerce plans, you also get SEO tools and they are pretty useful if you want your site to rank high on search engines. You can add and edit keywords, meta tags and so on.

There is also a blog feature that easily lets you create new posts, edit drafts, pin posts and more.

Customers who sign up for the most expensive plan also benefit from the eCommerce store. It comes with several description options for your products and several pricing options. Unfortunately though, PayPal is the only available payment processor.

Pricing

SiteBuilder offers a free plan and 4 paid ones. The paid plans are:

Personal - $12.77/month, billed annually

Pro - $7.09/month, billed annually

Premium - $11.06/month, billed annually

eCommerce - $17.03/month, billed annually

Help/Support

Phone numbers are available just for billing queries!

US/Canada: 1-855-885-2878

Knowledge base: http://support.sitebuilder.com/kb

When it comes to customer support, one drawback with SiteBuilder is the fact that it doesn’t offer phone support, except for billing issues. E-mail support is also not accessible to customers who signed up for the free plan.

There is a “priority support” but that one is available only to customers who sign up for the Premium or eCommerce plans.

The only form of customer support for the 'average' user is the knowledge base, which indeed has plenty of materials on various topics: how to get started, design issues, editor tips, how to add content and others.
