COMPLETE REVIEW

Kaspersky Internet Security takes the bronze medal in the best internet security software suites category. The security suite is equipped with plenty useful tools and features. It proved excellent at finding and destroying new and known threats without slowing down too much its host PC. It differentiated between good and threatening files with ease, which means you don’t have to worry about it misidentifying any not-infected content.

Features

Aside from protecting you against viruses, Kaspersky Internet Security works tirelessly to stop spyware, rootkits or any other kind of threat entering your system. Even though there are conditions under which spyware is legal, in most instances it is not. It’s usually used by hackers trying to gather your private information or by big companies collecting your consumer habits. To prevent these intrusions, Kaspersky has an innovative approach with many intuitive features in its Kaspersky Internet Security suite.

If you like online shopping or access many high authority sites during the day, there is a chance your typing activity might be logged and later used against you. This kind of threat is called “a keylogger”. This newly emerged threat surveys and logs what you type. This can be extremely harmful when you’re inputting your personal or financial data. In its Internet Suite, Kaspersky includes a virtual keyboard feature that blocks keyloggers from monitoring and recording your passwords and other sensitive information. When activated, the feature pulls up a fully functioning keyboard on your screen which you can use to select the numbers and characters you want, instead of using the physical keyboard and leaving a trace hackers can follow. Kaspersky also has a great anti-phishing feature that alerts you of websites with a reputation for steeling your data or tricking you in any way. Kaspersky Internet Security suite works on Windows as well as Mac OS and Android devices. For your convenience, Kaspersky has placed its main control hub on its website so with your log-in information you can monitor all subscriptions you bought.

If you want to limit your kids from accessing certain websites or monitor their online activity, an easy-to-use Parental Control feature is included in the suite. Even though Kaspersky Internet Security doesn’t include an online backup option for your files, what the suite does offer however, is the option of creating a rescue CD. In case a virus penetrates all layers of protection on your PC and brings down your system, a bootable rescue CD is used to restore the system to its previous state.

The premium Kaspersky Total Security suite fills all the holes Kaspersky Internet Security might have left open. This mostly refers to more features and devices covered by the license. The premium Kaspersky internet suite covers up to five devices – Windows, Mac, portable iPhone, iPad and Android. It scored highly on the AV-Test evaluation for usability and protection. The suite comes with the virtual keyboard feature and a password manager for added protection. Both features ensure your online password and personal data entries are safe from theft. Another premium feature is the File shredder that completely eliminates unwanted files and data without the option of restoring them. This is a much safer option for disposing of sensitive data, since the traditional erasing only relocates and isolates these files and they can always be restored.

Performance

Kaspersky Internet Security was rigorously tested in three categories: protection, performance and usability. The tests were performed by the highly esteemed AV-Test software testing facility during the spring of 2016. The tests subjected Kaspersky under the harshest conditions to test its limits and usability under high pressure. On the usability test, the software was put against several thousand threats among which some weren’t even in the online virus database, and Kaspersky did excellent by detecting and blocking each malicious file it came upon. It also, amazingly, didn’t make a single misidentification when it came to correctly recognizing malicious files. With a perfect score on both tests, Kaspersky earned the perfect 100 percent in the areas of protection and usability. On the performance test, the internet protection giant didn’t do perfect, but it still satisfied the industry standard by not causing significant lag on its host PC during testing.
