Bitdefender Internet Security scored perfectly in all tests performed by the AV-Test lab. It received above average scores in protection, usability and performance. The suite offers a wide range of high-tech, intuitive features such as the cloud anti-spam tool, parental controls or an additional firewall. Without an online back-up option in its basic offer, the package does have a rescue CD option to return your computer to its state before a virus attack. There are also some features like the virtual keyboard and a file shredder that are exclusive to the Bitdefender Premium Security Suite.
As it did in the category for the best antivirus software, Bitdefender dominates the lineup of the best Internet Security Suites. It received the highest score on the AV-Test, the independent software testing lab. The Bitdefender Security Suite has some of the great features included in the Bitdefender Antivirus Plus package and several more to make it the layered security suite you’re looking for.

On average, Bitdefender Internet Security has a lot more features to offer than many of its competitors. Aside from a perfect protection score against malware and a highly efficient anti-phishing feature, Bitdefender protects you while you’re on social media as well. It automatically scans any USB drive inserted into you PC for possible malicious files. While you’re playing games or watching videos, it detects your full screen programs and blocks unnecessary pop-ups from disturbing you.
Aside from the features included in its basic package, Bitdefender Internet Security has an impenetrable firewall, a cloud anti-spam feature as well as an advanced parental control hub. Even though the default firewall by Windows Defender provides adequate protection, Bitdefender includes its own firewall software to double down on malicious files.
The cloud anti-spam feature is a new, advanced way of battling incoming spam attacks. It works by interconnecting every Bitdefender user on the planet within a cloud virus database so whenever the security software registers a new spam file on your computer, it automatically uploads the information about it to a cloud. This information is then instantly distributed to every Bitdefender installation in the world to prevent a similar spam intrusion. Bitdefender’s cloud anti-spam feature is one of the most advanced, intuitive software of its kind.
If for any reason you want to limit someone’s access to certain parts of the internet, you can use the Parental control feature to block any content you wish. The feature also allows you to control the time your kids can use the web or even monitor their online or social networking activity.
Even though it doesn’t offer a back-up of your files to an online could service, Bitdefender Internet Security does give you the option of creating a rescue CD so you can manually boot your system in case of a severe infection. If you still prefer copying your files to an online cloud base, the top tier Bitdefender package, Bitdefender Premium Security Suite offers this option.
The premium suite also comes with a virtual keyboard feature and a file shredder for a complete disposal of unwanted files. The virtual keyboard does the job of a password manager remembering your online passwords and securing them from theft.

When we set upon building a list of the top internet security suites, we relied heavily on the testing results provided by AV-Test. AV-Test is a highly respected authority in the software world, since their lab is an independent facility that evaluates software through rigorous testing. During the tests performed on Windows 10 in March and August 2016, Bitdefender Internet Security scored highly in all areas. It did well on older versions of Windows, 8 and 7 on tests done the same year. AV-Test evaluated more than 20 products by setting them to update automatically and check with their virus cloud database every now and then. Every product was then individually tested in three areas: performance – how well the software can work without slowing down your PC, usability – how well it can differentiate between good and harmful files and websites, and protection – how well the product can defend against different kinds of new and known malware.
Bitdefender performed perfectly by discovering all of the 164 threats beating the 97 percent industry average. It successfully discovered and defended against more than 22,000 new threats that hadn’t yet been logged as viable threats in the online virus database. Bitdefender beat the industry average by successfully defending against all known and new threats it was exposed to.
The results were similar on the performance test as well. Bitdefender Security Suite proved to be a speedy bundle of software since it didn’t slow down its host computer significantly. It scored greatly above the industry average for performance on standard and higher-end PCs.
Tested against more than 1.2 million test threat files, Bitdefender Security only misidentified three valid programs making it the highest scoring security suite in the category. It managed to correctly differentiate between safe and harmful files without blocking any good content.
