DVDFab is a reliable and easy to use DVD copying software. COMPLETE REVIEW

DVDFab has four different operational modes: Copy, Converter, Ripper and Creator. All these modules are essentially separate products, but you can buy them bundled into a suite. Since we’re reviewing the best DVD copying software on the market, we focused on DVDFab’s copying abilities. The software can be a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easy and fun to use.

Aside from its more basic copying abilities, DVDFab also allows you to copy compressed files. This kind of data transfer means that you’re making a copy of a DVD while minimizing it so it would fit a smaller empty disc. Although this kind of copying is a great way to make backups of your favorite discs, during our tests we found that a certain level of distortion and quality loss is bound to happen during the compression process. While making an identical copy is always the best solution quality wise, compression is the quickest and cheapest way of transferring certain digital files to a smaller capacity disc. Despite the minimum loss in quality we recorded, DVDFab is still among the best DVD copying software we reviewed.

The simplest way of copy your DVDs and retain the original level of quality is the disc-to-disc option. All you need is an empty DVD-9 disc and you can start the process. If you own two DVD drives, the process is even simpler since you can insert them both initially and let the software do the rest automatically.

Like other top DVD copying software, DVDFab also allows for a certain level of customization when it comes to making DVD copies. Instead of allowing the program to run its automatic process, you can manually select which items you wish to copy onto your blank disc. This is useful since it allows you to avoid compression entirely, saving the original quality of the file you’re duplicating.

If you like having all your DVDs neatly organized into different categories, DVDFab has a feature that lets you merge several discs into one blank Blu-Ray. This is amazing if you buy a collector’s edition of your favorite show but don’t want to keep 13 different discs. The process itself is fairly simple, but it requires you to own a Blu-Ray burner.

Please note that the DMCA, which is the Digital Millennium Copyright Act is against copying any specific encryption that is on commercial discs. There are no exceptions to this, and at Best Review Guide we do not encourage, endorse, or support any illegal activity at all.  This software is meant to be used as intended within the constraints of the law.

Performance

Although it’s not the most important factor when considering a DVD copier, DVDFab has one of the sleekest, modernistic interface designs we had the opportunity to review. As an interesting addition, when you start the copy process, the background image changes to suit the disk you’re working on. Aesthetics aside, while it does look impressive, DVDFab can take some time to getting used to. To correct this small learning curve that exists, the software will show you a tutorial of the basic functions so after a few runs you can do it by yourself.

DVDFab has several options for creating new DVDs. You can do a simple disc-to-disc copy that copies the movie from your DVD to a blank physical disk in under 45 minutes, which is average compared to other similar products in our review. It can take about 5 minutes more or less, depending on whether you’re making a simple duplication, or compressing a commercial DVD onto a regular blank one.

If you are a little more tech savvy, you might want to preserve your favorite commercial DVDs on your computer. DVDFab allows you to create an ISO file of your DVD and save it on your PC. These image files are identical copies of the commercial DVD you duplicated, with the exception that the ISO file doesn’t have an expiration date in a physical sense. You can back up your entire DVD library this way and make sure you can access it long after you’ve damaged or misplaced the original discs. Aside from having your own movie database directly on your PC, this feature also allows you to burn those ISO files to a blank DVD and play it anywhere you’d like.

Most commercial DVDs have some kind of encryption to prevent illegal copying, but DVDFab like all other DVD copying software, has some form of a decryption software to bypass these protections. Although it’s not advisable to copy commercial DVDs, if you decide to do so, DVDFab has an automatic decrypter that handles the anti-piracy security measure.
