To start with the aesthetics. 123 Copy Gold’s interface is a bit more complicated than other software’s we reviewed. In all fairness, that complexity comes from the abundance of features and tools that can, for some, maybe be a little overwhelming. 123 Copy allows you to convert video files from your DVD to a format that will play on your smartphone, to fully customize what goes on to the disk you’re copying to, to create data discs etc. While it might take you a considerable amount of time to learn how to make the most out of all its tools, once you do, you’ll realize why 123 Copy is one of the best DVD copy software on the market.
If you decide to copy a few DVDs, you’ll probably run into a few warnings urging you to stop since multiplying commercial DVDs is against the law in most countries. Unlike some other top DVD copy products we reviewed, in order to circumvent this anti-piracy encryption, you have to manually download a plugin before you’ll be able to copy any protected DVDs. While copying files in a traditional way is the quickest and easiest way, in reality each copy is a bit different than the original. To create an absolutely identical copy of your DVD, you’ll have to buy a double-layered disc to do so. Double-layered DVDs are much larger than the regular ones and can hold much more information. When copying your DVD to this kind of disc, there’s no compression which means there’s no quality loss. Although you probably won’t notice the difference in quality if you replay the movie on your PC monitor, you will notice a drastic drop in image quality if you do so on a higher resolution HDTV.
