DVD Cloner is one of the simplest, most reliable DVD copying software on the market today. It’s highly customizable and it provides high-quality duplication with every try. It proved perfect for making mirror copies of your favorite DVD movies, or compressing them into smaller formats so they would take less space on a blank disc. One of the features that sets it apart from its competition is that it can merge several smaller DVD files onto one Blu-ray disc.
DVD Cloner also has an advanced mode for more experienced users who require more than just simple DVD copying. If you have the know-how, the Expert mode allows you to create your new disc without any unwanted content that might be initially bundled when you simply copy your DVD. If you want to copy a movie from a commercial DVD, you can utilize the movie only option that allows you to remove everything unnecessary from your new disc. This is great if you want to avoid having to buy double-layered DVDs, because this way the files are compressed to fit a regular DVD-5. On the other hand, if you wish to keep the extra files like trailers, commentary etc. but put them on a separate disc, you can do so by splitting the original DVD content into two separate discs, rather than using a double-layered DVD that can be much more expensive.
Another great, unique opportunity presented by DVD Cloner is its ability to copy the contents of two different DVDs onto a single Blu-Ray disc. Of course, to be able to use this feature, you have to have a Blu-Ray burner on your PC. This kind of bundling can be great if you’re trying to categorize your DVDs by genre or simply making anthologies.
Aside from its own amazing abilities, DVD Cloner includes a free copy of the Open DVD Ripper 3 Lite, a software that essentially converts movies from your commercial DVDs into regular video files that can be played on a computer or a mobile device.

DVD Cloner has two modes it can operate in - the Express and Expert, depending on your needs. Expert mode is, as its name suggests, meant for more advanced “expert” users and allows for different levels of customization before you start the copy process. But even though it’s meant for more tech savvy users, it still keeps a certain level of simplicity meaning anyone can learn the ropes fairly quickly and set up the process to their personal preference. The Express mode was meant to be quick and require least of your intervention before performing the copying.
The simplicity of the Express module lies in the fact that it takes only two steps before you can get your DVD to start copying. Naturally, the first step is inserting the original DVD you wish to make a copy of, and the second is simply swapping it for an empty one when prompted by the program. If you own two DVD drives, the second step is excluded since one automatically copies onto the other.
Although it is against the law, and we do not encourage you to do it, almost all DVD copy software have their own way of circumventing the government encryption most original DVD movies have. DVD Cloner also has this kind of decryption software but it comes with a security warning about the illegality of what you’re about to do.
One other important trait of any DVD copier is the speed at which it duplicates files. DVD Cloner took about 45 minutes to make a mirror DVD, while if you’re making a compressed copy to burn on a smaller size DVD, it could take about five minutes less. While we recorded all copy times of the DVD copying software in our review, we came to the conclusion that 45 minutes is average time for these actions.
If you have a sharp eye and can notice the tiniest difference in video quality, we recommend using a double layered DVD-9 disc to insure you’re keeping the exact quality of the original, commercial DVD you’re copying. The “regular DVDs” are actually a type called DVD-5 and can hold much less information than its double-layered cousin.
If you’re a bit more proficient at using copying software, you might have a few ISO files you’d like to burn onto a fresh DVD. DVD Cloner allows you to mount the image file (ISO) as the original physical DVD and copy it onto a blank DVD. These kinds of image files are virtual copies of the DVDs you once had and if you save them on you PC or an external hard drive, you can make sure you always have a digital backup of your favorite movies ready to be copied onto a blank DVD. This way you’re making sure you always have a copy of your movie collection.
