SUMMARY:

PeopleLooker comes at a standard price, it is an accurate, user-friendly and fast background service. While it is not FCRA certified and shouldn’t be used for employment purposes, admissions, etc., it can still provide useful and thorough data and has mobile apps that are more complex than the desktop version of the service. The mobile apps work with iOS and Android.

COMPLETE REVIEW

PeopleLooker is a background check service that helps you find and verify people by giving you access to public record info. While it can be used for a variety of reasons (to reconnect with old childhood friends, to do a background check on your neighbors or a co-worker and more), there are areas in which it shouldn’t be used. As PeopleLooker states it on their website, this service is not meant to be used when making important decisions such as: tenant screening, employment, admissions, insurance, consumer credit. PeopleLooker was founded in New York and it is not FCRA certified. PeopleLooker it is currently valued at more than $20 million and boasts on having run over 1 million reports so far.

This people search service has a simple pricing scheme. There are 2 types of subscriptions you can choose from: a 1-month membership and a 3-month membership, which gives you access to unlimited searches.

How it works

Compared to other background check services, PeopleLooker is relatively fast. Here is the entire process when you want to perform a search: you first have to type in the first and last name of the person you’re looking for, their city, state and then hit the ‘Search’ button. In less than 2 minutes, your report will be ready. You should know though that PeopleLooker only works for the United States. In a short time you’ll see a list with people who match your search. The data collected by PeopleLooker about each of them will make it possible for you to narrow down your search and choose the correct person.

The interface of PeopleLooker is really straightforward and easy to use and you can also call the toll free number if you get stuck or have problems in any way.

The reports generated by this service are complex. You will have access to biographic info, address, criminal history, photos, phone numbers, sex offender data, known aliases, e-mails and more.

Related to the criminal history of the person, you can receive data such as arrests, traffic violations/tickets, offense records, most wanted lists.

When it comes to properties owned by the person, reports can include satellite maps of the property, the value of the property, property tax amounts, buyer/seller info, co-owners and more.

Of course, not all information will be included in the standard report. Some of them will require you to pay an extra fee: divorce/marriage records, licenses, tax liens, court judgments.

One thing that’s missing from PeopleLooker is the ability to perform multiple types of searches: based on address, e-mail, etc. With the desktop version you can only perform one type of search, based on name/city/state.

PeopleLooker has a mobile app, too and it is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The weird thing about it is that in some aspects, the mobile app is more complex than the desktop version of the service. It allows you to perform searches that you can’t perform on desktop: reverse phone search, e-mail search.

In order to find data, PeopleLooker uses various sources: court and arrest records, bankruptcies, social media accounts and all the other usual sources used by competitors (local public records, federal, state/county records).

One plus of the service is that if you go with the 3-month membership, you can perform an unlimited number of searches.

Pricing

There are two pricing options available with PeopleLooker: the one month membership and the 3-month membership.

The 1-month membership costs $14.62/month.

The 3-month membership costs $18.28/month.

If you choose the 3-month subscription you will pay 30% less.
