COMPLETE REVIEW

At first glance, the D-Link DAP-1330 WiFi booster doesn’t look like it has a lot to offer. But if you look deeper, you’ll realize that, although it lacks many capabilities of larger mesh routers, it still gets the job done very efficiently. Its size and simplicity make it very easy to install and maintain. There aren’t many options for WiFi boosters under $30 that will have an average throughput rate of 300Mbps. The DAP-1330 also has pretty good coverage so if you have a smaller to medium sized apartment, it should cover your entire home without any issues. If you’re looking for a simple, basic WiFi booster, the D-Link DAP-1330 is the best choice for you.

Design

There’s not really much to say about the D-Link DAP-1330’s design, except that it’s simple. It seems as if the manufacturer was more willing to make a small, reliable device that will cost less, than invest more in fancier packaging. This is probably one of the reasons the device is much cheaper than the rest of its competition.

The device is primarily compact and is made to do the job, not look pretty. The DAP-1330 plugs directly into a wall outlet so you can easily move it around your house as needed. The LED indicator on the device serves to show how strong the signal is. It also has two adjustable antennas that can be fully folded into the device, in case you’re moving or simply want to fold it before moving it as a precaution.

Pricing

As we mentioned before, D-Link DAP-1330 is one of the cheapest WiFi extenders on the market. The device goes for just under $30, depending on the store you choose. And while D-Link has an impressive 2-year warranty policy, you can prolong this period if you’re buying on Amazon for a few extra bucks.

Performance

Over the past decade, WiFi extenders have become more and more popular. The reason for this is that additional routers are much more expensive and for someone living in a smaller home, practically unnecessary. WiFi boosters extend your original router’s signal so that every corner of your home is equally covered. In case you have two routers, more often than not, when you move from one device’s area of coverage to another’s it will require you to login which can be annoying on an everyday basis. The WiFi extender serves more like an antenna that boosts the internet signal without the need of you logging in or switching to another device. Like with all other devices on the market, WiFi extenders are many and they come in different shapes and sizes. The D-Link DAP-1330 is one of the most affordable, basic WiFi extenders on the market. If you’re not looking for anything fancy for your small to medium sized home, this device will do perfectly.

Like with other devices in our review, we looked at the test results for D-Link DAP-1330 to make sure it satisfies some basic standards we instated. The device recorded a solid 300Mbps on the throughput test, meaning you will be able to comfortably transfer data over your network without much loss on speed. And while the transfer rate was higher on the original router, the range extender also had a satisfying score since the D-Link DAP-1330 only works on 2.4Ghz bands. Due to its very basic design and “equipment”, the device features only one Ethernet port which can be problematic if you have more than one other device you’d like to plug in.

One of its best features for sure, is the device’s easy setup. The whole process is fully simplified and it takes only a few minutes. All you need to do is plug the D-Link DAP-1330 into an outlet, press the WPS button on your main router, repeat the same step on your range extender and your device is ready to go. In case you get lost in any of the steps, or something isn’t fully clear, you can consult the D-Link mobile app for any additional info.
