PROS:
CONS:
The Fitbit Versa is a great value for the money. It is really comfortable and attractive, both for women and men, it is lightweight, it has an improved touchscreen over the Ionic, great fitness/workout features and a simple, straightforward interface, all for a more decent price than its major competitors. The only really major downside we could find in it is the lack of GPS.
The Fitbit Versa is a lighter and more affordable alternative to the already legendary Fitbit Ionic, released in September 2017.
The Fitbit Versa was released in April 2018 and its design resembles the Apple Watch quite a bit. It also looks like the Pebble smart watches, which, unfortunately enough, were discontinued.
The Versa model, which came up right after the Fitbit Blaze, has the following specifications:
Design
The Fitbit Versa comes in several available colors and strap materials. You can opt for black, charcoal woven, silver/gray, lavender woven and peach/rose. The strap materials available are: leather, silicone, steel link, knit, woven, Milanese mesh-style.
The Versa smartwatch has a square-ish shape (or ‘squircle’), with round edges. It is lightweight and comfortable and as we’ve already mentioned it, it looks very similar to the Apple and Pebble watches.
The Fitbit Versa has an aluminum case, which makes it one of the most lightweight watches produced by Fitbit. It is also comfortable to wear by people with both large and small wrists.
The watch has a bright, 1.34 inch LCD display (1,000 nits) which can be seen in any light conditions, even in bright, direct sunlight, and touch controls, except for the 3 buttons on the sides: one for wake up and back, located on the left side and 2 more buttons on the right (for start/pause and finish workout).
In terms of its strap, it is, as we’ve already mentioned it, interchangeable and you’ve got a pretty wide variety of colors and materials to choose from.
The Fitbit Versa is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
Features
The Fitbit Versa comes with the Fitbit OS 2.0 on it. It has an internal memory of 4GB, of which 2.5 GB are available to you, so you can upload around 300 songs on it. The Versa saves 7 days of detailed motion data and your daily totals for your past 30 days.
The touchscreen works great, there’s no latency, as it was the case with the Fitbit Ionic. The watch is water resistant, so you can take it with you in the pool, as it is resistant up to a depth of 50 meters.
Because you are dealing with a Fitbit product, you’ve got all your tracking and monitoring capabilities and sensors: optical heart monitor, altimeter (maximum operating altitude: 28,000 feet), activity tracking, step counting, sleep tracking, calories consumption, etc. There is also a female health tracking, which is built in to the OS, so you don’t have to use an app for period tracking. You just enable the feature and see how many days are left until your next period. The Fitbit Coach is also useful, as it can give you customized workout recommendations. 3 types of exercises with instructions are already available out of the box.
Phone notifications/alerts are also available with the Versa. You can set to receive SMS alerts, e-mail alerts, calendar alerts and so on and send replies directly from the smartwatch.
What is missing from the Fitbit Versa is a built-in GPS, which is why this model is significantly cheaper than the Ionic. On the other hand, you’ve got WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC, if you go for the Special Edition, which also lets you make contactless payments.
The Fitbit OS 2.0 interface is really clean and user friendly, with organized icons. There are a plethora of highly customizable watchfaces available for the Fitbit Versa, both from Fitbit and from third-party developers.
You can also download apps from the Fitbit App Gallery, although you don’t have such a wide collection as with Wear OS and Apple. Among the most popular apps you can find are Deezer, Pandora, Yelp, Strava, Nest, Uber by Fitbit and some more.
The Fitbit Versa is definitely a competitive smartwatch. There are areas in which it is even better than the Fitbit Ionic (touchscreen, the optical heart rate monitor and others) and it still costs $100 less. It is a lightweight smartwatch, intuitive, comfortable and affordable.
You can buy the Fitbit Versa for $200. The watch comes with free shipping, a 45-day money back guarantee and 1-year limited warranty.
