Total 3D Home Design Deluxe is a simple home design software that has most of the essential features and tools we looked for. It’s easy to use, and it offers many customizing options. Its objects and plants libraries are among the most comprehensive ones in our review. Although it’s not perfect, it’s a good home design app for users just starting to hone their design skills.
Total 3D Home Design Deluxe is a decent home design app with a healthy number of the essential features we look for in software like this. This program is very simple and it’s suitable for novice users. It offers many sample floor plans you can load and then edit and shape to your preference. The pre-made room templates also make your designing job easier since they are already complete and you can make changes according to what you’d like to see.
The Basics
If you’re a home design novice, you’ll be happy to know that Total 3D Home Design Deluxe features more than 1000 sample floor designs to help you with the first steps of creating your perfect project. Samples defer in size, shape and square footage. To ease the process even more, you can choose among the dozens of room templates that make furnishing your home quick and easy. If you don’t like certain aspects of the plan you’ve loaded, the app lets you drag and drop objects or entire rooms and resize them. Total 3D Home Design Deluxe has an integrated cost estimator. This feature keeps track of the materials and general cost of all the modifications you make on your design. When you finish your project, it gives you an approximate price of your finished home.
Total 3D Home Design Deluxe offers a very simplified floor plan view. The 2D floor plan’s symbols are very simple and the design tools available could be better. The bar containing all the tools is located on the side of your screen and you can choose an option based on the action you wish to perform. You can create walls, install windows and doors, set up stairs and more. Once we switched to 3D view, we found that some objects we’ve previously placed in 2D were now missing or displaced. Unlike most other apps we reviewed, Total 3D Home Design Deluxe is very difficult to get around in 3D mode.
Interior and Landscape Design
Total 3D Home Design Deluxe has a very large objects library that will satisfy even the pickiest users. You can resize and further customize any of the objects available. There are thousands of furniture pieces, appliances, fabric samples, tiles, bathroom and kitchen fixtures and more. Kitchen designing can be especially tricky since it requires a fine balance between all the appliances and furniture. To this end, Total 3D Home Design Deluxe has a cabinet designer that lets you fully customize how your kitchen will look like. If you have a favorite item in your home you’re wondering if it will fit in your new design, you can import a photo from your computer and upload it onto the plan. This lets you see how real-time objects would look combined with your design until that point. This feature is great if you’re remodeling your existing home and have a lot of furniture you need to work with.
The plants library doesn’t fall far behind either. With more than 4,500 different shrubs, flowers, trees and other vegetation types, Total 3D Home Design Deluxe has one of the most comprehensive vegetation databases in our review. To help you plan your perfect garden, the app has several landscaping tools that let you manipulate the terrain around your house to create hills, ponds, swimming pools and more. You can also create a fence without much effort.
