PROS:
CONS:
Although Carchex is a widely recognized organization we have found that AutoPOM to have a better overall customer experiance. To find out more about AutoPom click here. CARCHEX has been a household name in America for more than 20 years. The company is well-known for providing reliable extended car warranties with excellent payment conditions and different plans to suit all buyers. CARCHEX offers excellent customer support and if you’re calling to find out more about prices and payment options, the customer representatives will try and educate you on all your choices, instead of pressuring you to buy anything. You can try the service for 30 days before committing to buy.
CARCHEX is one of the most recognizable names in the extended car warranty world. Although it finished just third in our selection, it’s still well worth considering if you’re looking for a reliable, affordable extended car warranty service. CARCHEX offers excellent payment conditions, it has a few different plans and it offers great coverage on all of them.
Coverage and Policy
The company lets you choose between five different plans with amazing coverage conditions. For example, for a cost, you can extend your original warranty for up to seven years and 150,000 miles with services available across the entire US. CARCHEX has excellent payment options for all its customers. The company lets you spread out your payment over 24 months with a standard 30-day money-back guarantee you can use to try out their services before deciding on whether or not to buy. Although CARCHEX has nation-wide coverage, it doesn’t cover Canada and Mexico like some other services in our review do.
The Bronze package is the most basic plan you can choose. It allows you to extend your vehicle’s original warranty for up to five years, and it will cover the most essential parts of your car like the engine, transmission and drive axle. Although it might not seem like much, these parts are usually the most expensive ones if they break down, so you might end up saving a lot of money with the Bronze plan in case your car has to get repairs.
The Silver package extends your car’s policy even further and it allows coverage for up to seven years more than your original warranty. It includes everything the Bronze plan covers, while additionally insuring your AC, electrical and fuel delivery components. The Gold plan also extends the warranty for up to seven years covering vehicles with over 60,000 miles on their meter. It adds coverage of the braking and steering systems. The Platinum further enhances the coverage while the Titanium plan covers all of your car’s components fully and does so for up to seven years.
In case you have to use your new policy, you’ll have to front a more-less standard $200 deductible which is a little high since most other companies we looked at require a $100 less before they initiate payment on behalf of the policy. Nevertheless, after you’ve paid the deductible, CARCHEX takes over. Once you leave the car in the shop, the company will fully handle payment and any other needed contact with the auto service. CARCHEX will also reimburse you in case you wish to hire a rental while your car is getting serviced. You can choose any rental car that doesn’t exceed $30 daily, for up to five days.

Over the course of our review, we tested the level of customer support of each individual service in our review. CARCHEX proved to have adequate and knowledgeable customer support representatives who were happy to answer any of the many questions we had about payment, plans and coverage. CARCHEX offers a live-chat option, but if you wish to speak to a customer support representative, you can do so by calling them. Other means of contact include emails or regular mail, if you’re more comfortable with that.
One downside is that CARCHEX doesn’t have a 24/7 manned phone you could phone for immediate support or in case of emergencies. However, the company does promise a swift response to any inquiries over phone, email or live chat. If you’d rather look for solutions to simpler issues yourself, you can check the company’s FAQ section that holds the answers to the most common problems customers face.
