Protect My Car offers three well-rounded policies with amazing payment solutions. Although it lacks some options other companies in our review included in their offer, Protect My Car is still a solid choice for your extended car warranty. All three plans are devised so that almost anyone can find a suitable solution for their extended warranty. The company’s customer service could use some improvement, but they do offer emailed quotes, which is convenient.

Coverage and Policy

Although Protect My Car has only three plans (some services in our review have a few dozen), they are simple enough to understand and the company claims they will work with you on beating any competing price if you’ve found the same service cheaper somewhere else.

The most basic Driveline policy is best fitted with older vehicles with more than 80,000 miles. The extended warranty will cover another five years or 100,000 miles. This plan will insure your engine, AC and heating, transmission, fuel system, the drive axle, electrical components and the cooling system. Although it is the basic package, Driveline covers much more than some other “elementary” plans in our review.

The Select plan is a great value-for-money policy. Aside from including everything Driveline does, the Select plan also covers the steering and more complex electrical components, front and rear suspension, and brakes. In case your vehicle breaks down somewhere on the road, with the Select package you are entitled to two Roadside Assistance calls in a year. Each additional call will be charged a discounted fee of $50.

The most comprehensive of the three plans is the Supreme. This warranty is essentially a mirrored manufacturer’s warranty, covering your vehicle entirely. It includes rental car reimbursements and 24/7 Roadside Assistance.

An added convenience is that Protect My Car offers the longest period you can spread out your payments through. By choosing between 36 and 42 months, you can make your new extended car warranty a lot easier on your bank account.

In case you do have to get your car to the shop, you’ll only have to pay the $100 deductible which is a standard fee for this type of expense. Protect My Car lets you rent a car on their expense for up to seven days and $30 per day. Since most companies we reviewed only reimburse you for between three to five days, having a free rental for a few days longer can make a huge difference.

In case you’re not satisfied with your new policy, Protect My Car offers a standard 30-day money back guarantee. You can use this period to familiarize yourself with the service and in case you’re not fully satisfied, you will be reimbursed.

For the purpose of our review, we tested each company’s customer support by calling and asking different questions about pricing, plans, coverage options and payment options. And while you can’t contact Protect My Car by live-chat, you can do so by phone or email. The company’s website also holds a respectable FAQ section you can browse for some more common questions.

Although we’ve had very few bad experiences over the course of writing this review, when we contacted Protect My Car we’ve gotten a much lower level of service we would have liked. While the representative we spoke to had good knowledge about all the questions we asked, he seemed more than eager to get us to choose a policy. The fact that he was so pushy to sell made us less interested in Protect My Car’s offer.
