The Snowbunting EX 0 is truly a professional sleeping bag, designed by mountaineers for alpinists. If we were to name its first three qualities, we’d have to go with warmth, durability and water resistance. It is one of the most popular and best-selling sleeping bags manufactured by Feathered Friends. It is a winter bag with 900+ waterproof goose down. Its only ‘drawback’, if we can call it that, it’s its high price, but if you can make peace with that, we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
The Snowbunting EX 0 sleeping bag is produced by Feathered Friends, an American company based in Seattle. The company was founded in 1972. Feathered Friends are renowned for their high quality outdoor gear. Their equipment can be used for any type of outdoor adventures, from simply camping in your backyard to expeditions on Mount Everest.
The Snowbunting EX 0 is one of the best-selling bags they make, because of its impressive construction quality and durability. It is one of the most thermally efficient sleeping bag you can buy, it is waterproof and suited for winter use (alpine missions, etc.). All this quality comes with a matching price, as this beautiful piece of equipment costs no less than $600. As we’ve already mentioned, The Snowbunting is a winter bag. It is mummy shaped, has a two-way zipper that comes with locking sliders and it is available in two sizes: regular and long.
The regular bag fits up to 6 inches, while the long one fits up to 6.6 inches. The regular sleeping bag weighs 2 lb 13 oz and the long one weighs 2 lb 15 oz.
The Snowbunting comes with a 900+ fill power goose down and has a temperature rating of 0 degrees F. The sleeping bag is built flawlessly and will last you for literally a lifetime. It is waterproof and breathable and considering the materials and warmth it offers, it is quite light weighted and easy to pack and carry around when you go ski touring for instance, and you don’t want to carry too much luggage with you. You can really tell that the bag was designed by mountaineers who know what’s important in such a piece of gear.
The sleeping bag really shines when it comes to warmth. Its hood and draft collar keep you impressively warm, as does the entire bag. It might lose some points when it comes to comfort, because it is slightly narrower than other bags with the same ratings and you might find it a bit difficult to move in it. On its defense though, the Snowbunting was designed to warm you up fast and keep you warm, so they focused on that and decided to cut back on extra space or other details such as stash pockets, for instance. The bag has continuous horizontal baffles that allow you to position the down where you need it the most.
The Snowbunting compensates when it comes to water resistance and proves to be one of the best sleeping bags you can find when it comes to keeping you dry. Its Pertex Shield EX waterproof fabric is absolutely brilliant at keeping moisture out completely.
