SUMMARY:

The HD 4.4 BT are Bluetooth headphones with NFC connectivity. They are affordable and deliver a good, but not excellent sound. While fanatic audiophiles might not consider their sound quality perfectly pristine, bass lovers will appreciate the low frequencies on these headphones. They are also very comfortable.

COMPLETE REVIEW

Sennheiser is an electronics manufacturer from Germany. The company was founded right after the World War II, in 1945. They specialize in hi-fi audio products, from microphones, headphones, loudspeakers, meeting and conference solutions and more.

The HD 4.4 BT are among their best-selling wireless headphones, because they have a good audio quality and an affordable price. They are over-the ear and closed-back and they come with Bluetooth and NFC connectivity.

Main specifications:

  • Weight: 7.9 oz
  • Battery: Li-ion Polymer, battery life up to 25 hours
  • Frequency response: 18-22,000 Hz
  • Frequency response microphone: 100-10,000 Hz
  • Impedance: 18 ohm
  • Codecs: AptX

The design of the HD 4.4 BT is simple but tasteful. They only come in black and have a collapsible design, making them easier to carry and store. They are soft, with plush ear pads and with a little more padding than you’re normally used to, which makes them impressively comfortable. You can wear them for hours without feeling any irritation or discomfort.

They only have the basic buttons that control the power, volume, answer calls and the play/pause functions.

The Sennheiser app, called CapTune is free, lets you control the EQ settings, use the TIDAL music service, check the battery life and more. It is compatible with iOS and Android.

Now on to the sound of the HD 4.4 BT: The first thing we’ve noticed when playing music through these headphones was the pronounced bass. These are definitely headphones for listeners who are all about the bass. The bass doesn’t distort at high volumes. That doesn’t mean that highs are not well-defined though. The headphones have an overall crisp and clear sound, only with an extra boost of bass which may sometimes steal your mix. The soundstage is somewhat average, but considering their decent price, we think the headphones sound great.

The integrated omnidirectional microphones allow you to take or make calls and the quality is decent.

One small complaint we have is that the included cable doesn’t have an inline remote and mic, but that’s by no means a deal breaker. When you connect the cable, the Bluetooth is automatically disabled.

While they don’t have a special noise cancelling feature, they manage to do a good job isolating you from the ambient noise.

The battery life on the Sennheiser HD 4.4 BT is beyond average, with up to 25 hours on a charge. That can of course vary, depending on the volume.

For $100, we find the Sennheiser to be a real bargain, with a good sound, a powerful bass, a comfortable design and a good battery life. They may not have as many smart features as competitors such as the Sony WH-1000XM2, but they perform really well and come at an affordable price.

Pricing

You can but the HD 4.4 BT headphones from the official website or Amazon, for approx. $100. The box includes a USB charging cable and a 58” long cable with a 3.5 mm plug and a carrying pouch.
