Wondershare Filmora 8 is a great video editing software for first-time editors. It has all the basic tools together with some more advanced ones to allow you different levels of modification. Since it’s mostly focused on the casual users, it has the Easy mode that creates unique videos with very little user interference. For more serious video projects, however, we suggest you look at some other video editing software.

Wondershare Filmora 8 is one of the most aesthetically pleasing video editing software in our review. It’s primarily focused towards beginner and causal users but it also comes with a healthy number of more advanced features to satisfy those more tech-savvy. Since it has a very intuitive and well-designed interface, anyone can learn how to use it in a fairly short period of time. The fact that it lacks some more serious editing tools kept it out of our top five selection.

When you start the app, you’re faced with two modules you can work in: the Easy and Full Feature modes. The first one does pretty much as its name suggests, and it is the least complicated way to create new projects with maximum help from the app. You just add your clips and choose one of the preloaded themes and add the audio you’d like to use. Filmora then does a quick scan and starts creating your video automatically. Because most of the process is automated, you’re not given too many customizing options.

Aside from its appealing looks, Filmora is quite easy to use and requires very little time to fully master. IT has a very intuitive interface and it offers two modes you can use depending on the level of editing you wish to do. All the main tools and features are instantly accessible since they’re located right in the main window.

The Full Feature mode allows you more room for modifying and personalizing your video. You can use either a timeline or a storyboard for your workflow. Considering some other video editing software in our review offer unlimited number of media editing tracks, Filmora allows you to use only eight, which is significantly less. Although this might be enough for some simpler projects novice users might create, it’s certainly not adequate for editing more serious videos since they require multiple editing tracks available.

Wondershare Filmora 8 also allows you to use its action cam module. This feature centers its attention around HD video shot with action cameras such as GoPro. Although these types of cameras produce high quality dynamic videos, Filmora lets you further fine tune them and share them with your friends and family. Even though this is a very useful app, not many other video editing software have it.

Since Filmora was primarily focused on casual users and hobbyists, it comes without some features other highly ranked software in our review has. There’s no option of importing or editing 360-degree videos or creating closed captions in your projects. Aside from these features, Filmora is also missing a motion tracker that would allow you to individually assign effects throughout your video.

This software gives you several exporting options. You can create a stand-alone file and keep it on your hard drive, or you can burn your projects on a DVD, but you can’t create a menu. To share it online, Filmora allows you to upload your project on Facebook, Vimeo and YouTube which saves you a lot of time from doing it manually on each site. One other great thing you can do with this app is that you can optimize your video for playback on specific devices like consoles, smartphones or tablets. Although it’s a great feature, not many other video editing apps in our review have it.

Filmora is a youthful, beautifully designed video editing app that has an impressive and ever expending video effects library. It’s missing some essential advanced features so it finished outside or our top five selection.

Filmora’s website is as beautiful designed and as accessible as its video editing app. The site is very easy to navigate and it offers many video tutorials as well as a FAQ section. The Filmora 101 serves as a kind of guide through your new software. If you need to contact live support, you can do so by submitting a contact ticket.
