COMPLETE REVIEW

If you want to easily edit videos without all the technical information and hassle that usually comes with the process, Filmora is the application for you. Designed to be an application capable of complex and well-designed videos even with its simple interface, users both amateur and professional will have ease with using it. They are equipped with a lot of features, filters, and tools to make this possible. The application continues to be improved and is now in its 10th version where many bugs and issues were solved along with the introduction of new features. Check out our full review of Filmora 10.

Pricing

Filmora has a licensing price of $69.99 USD which is a pretty good price for what they offer.

Performance

Filmora 10, also called Filmora X, is one of the main competitors for famous casual video editing apps such as Adobe Premiere Elements and the iMovie available in many Apple devices. What sets them apart from them, however, is that it is the perfect hybrid between a very simple video editing app and a complicated one. Even with the simplicity of its interface, it contains features like motion tracking, green screen usage, and the likes. This makes it friendly to use even for more complicated projects. With the arrival of the 10th version in October 2020, they introduce new key features such as motion tracking and keyframing.

New features

One of the most advertised new features of the 10th version is motion tracking. This is a quite complicated feature that has a lot of uses nowadays. This allows users to track a specific element within a video clip. This can then be linked to another media within the video. This makes it easy to insert other elements in the video in an organic way which is a method many big studios do on a larger scale to create CGI clips. With Filmora, this can be achieved on a small scale and with good results. Tracking and adjusting the placement for the clips is very easy. For simple things like vlogging and mini projects, the application has you covered.

Next is the keyframe feature. This allows you to put dots along the timeline of the clip. This signifies the start and the end of a frame. This can then be adjusted to fit a specific rotation, position, and opacity that you will need for the video. This makes it easier to create dynamic frame changes and to add more animations, transitions, and graphics to your video. This is also a complicated tool that was simplified by the application for casual usage.

The application also added more color controls for the application. Here, users can have more control over the overall image quality by adjusting the temperature, brightness, and more for each frame. For this, we can achieve a desired mood from the video better. You can also use color matching to match a specific frame’s color with another by comparing them with a split screen. This makes it easier to spread the color changes you did with one scene to the whole video if needed.

Using its staple features

With all of these changes, Filmora still retains the important features that made them an easy choice among many users back then.

First, they still retain the option to have either a dark or white background while using the app which can greatly make its different features and tools standout. We found the interface to be very clean, simple, and intuitive at the same time. Using its sliders, buttons, and more was also very easy. There is also a rendering clip at the top right of the application that shows the progress of your video editing so far. This comes with its own video controls.

To create your video, users can upload their different images and audio in one collective storage inside the application. From here, they can simply drag out the content to the bottom of the application which is also known as the timeline. Here, they can see the different lengths of the video, the audio levels, and the different features that they have attached. Users can easily reposition the clips, splice them, and basically rearrange the whole video by simply clicking and dragging.

The application has a lot of options for the transitions of the video that can make any overall project livelier. While not every option was particularly useful, users are guaranteed to always have at least 5 favorite transitions that they can attach to their videos. These transitions can also be modified in terms of speed, direction, and more. As usual, these are simply clicked and dragged to your timeline which makes the video editing process very easy.

Next, users can also insert video filters easily. Examples of these include putting a cinematic 16:9 ratio, a monochrome video, and more. Users can also insert texts, titles, and credits in the video easily.

Filmora recognizes that not all users will want to use every feature of the application every time. Because of this, the application launcher has the option to launch the application in an easy mode, with only the option to cut videos, or to launch it with full options. It also has an action cam tool. Through this, users will have more convenience whenever opening the application in case they do not want to open the application fully. This is also more convenient for those with low end computers that may not always handle the memory requirement of the application.

With its new tools, Filmora still continues to be the perfect choice for those looking for an app that is simple to use yet comes with advanced features to create more complicated videos. Even those not interested in these tools will still feel the improvements done by the app to improve its current tools and features to make the whole experience easier.
