PROS:
CONS:
iPage is a very good choice for users who are on a budget and are just getting started. This provider offers some of the cheapest initial plans on the market, while still maintaining the quality of their services. Security and uptime are impressive, especially at these rates and you can also feel better about yourself knowing that your web hosting provider only uses green energy for its services. More pretentious users, with more complex businesses might feel unsatisfied with their loading time or the fact that they don’t use the standard cPanel.
iPage is a web hosting provider and a domain registration company founded in Boston, in 1998. It is now part of the Endurance International Group and has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
iPage offers some of the cheapest web hosting solutions on the market, but don’t let that fool you, because in their case, cheap doesn’t mean bad. They have an impressive uptime and packages suited for every need.
Another cool thing about this company is that it is environmentally friendly, providing 200% green hosting, by purchasing renewable energy certificates (REC).
Hosting wise, they offer shared hosting, VPS, dedicated and WordPress hosting and the starting price is unbeatable.
There is also a 30 day money back guarantee and you can rest assured that you will get your money back in full, no questions asked.
Back to their shared web hosting, the package includes unlimited disk space, unlimited email accounts and unlimited MySQL databases. Among the other features included with shared hosting, we can also mention:
Regarding the control panel, some users might be disappointed to find out that iPage doesn’t use the standard cPanel. They use vDeck, which is less user-friendly and more limited than the cPanel. However, you do get plenty of tools for building your site. You can even use their secure FTP transfer, if you want to build your website offline.
In terms of security, iPage can easily compete with top-notch providers and it does it for significantly less money. They offer 24/7 security and network monitoring, they have a partnership with SiteLock, which is pretty useful in searching for malware and fixing any potential errors, depending on the plan you choose.
They also use a firewall and they perform daily backups, for a small additional fee. Also, in case you lose your data, they offer free restoration.
One annoying thing that we observed is that there are a lot of upsells. Also, although iPage is one of the best budget options you could find, the special offers and promotional price only apply to the initial period (12 to 36 months, depending on what plan you choose). After that period expires, the renewal prices are quite expensive for all their plans. So make sure and investigate further on this subject, before signing up with them.
They only have one available plan for their shared hosting. At the time of this review, iPage’s intro offer for their shared hosting was only $1,99/month, from their regular price of $10,95/month. This price includes free domain registration and allows unlimited domain names. You should know though that the free domain is only free for the first year. Also, if you register a free domain through iPage but then want to cancel your account, there is a non-refundable fee of $15, if you want to keep the domain.
VPS hosting comes in 3 packages: Basic, Business and Optimum. Basic starts at $19,99/month and includes 1 GB RAM, 40 GB storage and 1 TB bandwidth.
Dedicated hosting also has 3 options to choose from: Startup, Professional and Enterprise, with the cheapest one being $119,99/month. Startup includes 2 cores, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB storage and 5 TB bandwidth.
Although you wouldn’t normally have too many expectations from such a low-cost provider, iPage may surprise you when it comes to uptime.
They guarantee a 99,9% uptime. They managed to considerably evolve over the years and now tests showed a 100% uptime for a whole week of testing.
For 2017, their average uptime values were 99,99% for January and 100% for April.
The loading time however leaves room for improvement, proving to be below the average, in several tests we conducted.

iPage comes with a good, 24/7 customer support. You can contact them via phone, live chat or email and they are also active on social media. The waiting time is pretty standard and the reps are helpful. Live chat reps usually handle issues that are not too complex, while more complicated problems are usually assigned to email support. The usual response time for emails is 24 hours.
iPage also has an extensive knowledge base that helps you with building your own website, managing your account, configuring your email, selling online and so on. There are also video tutorials and a ticketing system.
