It comes with an individual and a family package who covers up to 8 minors, a $5 million service guarantee, a very professional and useful website, your own private investigator and all the features you might need in order to protect or restore your identity.

The company provides ID theft protection services to over a million people in 50 states and 4 provinces from Canada. It is accredited by the BBB (Better Business Bureau) since 1995.
ID Shield was initially part of the LegalShield offerings, but now it functions as a separate product and has its own website.
Both plans offered by ID Shield, the Individual and the Family plan include unlimited consultation, complete monitoring and $5million service guarantee. The sum will supposedly cover your restoration expenses in case your identity gets stolen.
The free consultation will be with a licensed private investigator. You can contact him during their working hours or anytime in case of emergency. The investigator can advise you on various topics: how to identify scams, how to stop credit card junk mail, how to read your credit report, info on medical and criminal ID fraud/theft and more.
ID Shield’s package includes monitoring for your social security number, up to 10 credit card, bank account and store/retail card numbers, your personal information, passport number, driver’s license number, up to 10 medical ID numbers and your social media accounts. It also includes quarterly credit score updates. One thing you should be aware of is the fact that ID Shield only monitors your TransUnion report.
ID Shield searches through more than 500 million criminal and court records, in order to identify any illegal activities that might use your personal information. Other 2 features that are included are credit freezes and lost or stolen wallet.
In case of any suspicious activities, you will receive immediate alerts: personal, live, via mobile or online. ID Shield will alert you in case of credit fraud attempts, credit account delinquency, credit bankruptcy, new credit accounts, new address requests, new public records, new loan attempts and more.
What we really like about ID Shield is their website, which is very well designed and mobile responsive. Everything is clean and organized and the sign up process is also very quick and simple. However, the mobile website needs some improvement, because there are things that don’t function well from your mobile device (for example, the fact that we couldn’t see our reports).
We also appreciated the fact that ID Shield dedicated an entire section on their website to “competitive comparisons”. On that section you can compare their product to all major competitors: LifeLock, Identity Force, Identity Guard and others. We think this is a pretty bold move on their part and it helps them gain more respect from potential customers.
ID Shield doesn’t just offer monitoring services and alerts. It also comes with full-service restoration, in case your ID gets compromised. In addition to the $5 million coverage, you will also be assigned your own private investigator, who will notify your creditors, property managers, credit card companies and so on. ID Shield will require you to give them limited power of attorney, and within a day from receiving it, it will begin to help you restore your identity. The company will take disputes all the way to the FDC (Federal Trade Commission), Federal Reserve Bank, Social Security Administration, Department of Motor Vehicles, Office of Inspector General and anywhere else it’s necessary.
ID Shield has an individual plan and a family one. The individual plan costs $9.95/month. The family plan is $19.95/month and covers you, your spouse and up to 8 minors.
They also have a Member Perks program for their customers. If you sign up for it, you are entitled to discounts for various purchases, from clothing, to electronics, movie tickets and much more. ID Shield claims that with this program, a family of four can save up to $2,391/year from discounts alone.

ID Shield takes pride in its customer support. You can contact them by phone, during their business hours or 24/7, but just in case of emergency. You can also contact them via email.
However, as stated on their website, you cannot contact one of their ID protection consultants unless you have an IDShield account.
