COMPLETE REVIEW

Credit Sesame describes itself as a “credit and loan management platform”. The company was founded in 2010 in California and it is mostly known and appreciated for its free services. Among others, Credit Sesame also offers free identity theft protection services.

Although the company also has paid plans available, their basic credit monitoring and ID theft protection services come for free. It is more of a credit reporting service and you can sign up for free. There is no credit card requirement, no hidden charges applied and you don’t need a trial, since they already offer free versions of their services.

The company is deemed secure by Norton, McAfee and ETrust and it is accredited by the BBB.

Credit Sesame offers four options: a free membership and 3 paid plans: Advanced Credit, Pro Credit and Platinum Protection.

The free membership includes $50,000 in free ID theft insurance, for expenses and legal costs related to identity theft, fraud or embezzlement, data breach, forgery and more. Their policy covers: court, notary, courier, travel costs, application fees, legal representation (up to $75/hour) and others.

The free account also includes free credit monitoring and free credit score, but only from TransUnion, which is one of the 3 major credit bureaus. It also includes free, live access to their identity restoration specialists. However, the free account doesn’t provide access to free credit reports.

The credit score offered by Credit Sesame, although it’s not the FICO one, is pretty accurate and it only varies with a few points.

If you want to upgrade to their paid plans, Pro Credit comes with 24/7 live experts who help you solve any credit report inaccuracies.

Their Platinum Protection plan adds a few more important features: 24/7 live experts who provide lost/stolen wallet protection, black market website monitoring and social security number monitoring and up to $1,000,000 identity theft insurance.

One other selling point for Credit Sesame is their mobile app, which is Android and iOS compatible and it is very useful and user-friendly. The app lets you see your credit report and score, set up alerts and more.

If you want to sign up, you have to go through a pretty lengthy process: they will ask you to give them your personal information, date of birth, address, SSN and email. You’ll also be asked if you own or rent your residence. Once they have your e-mail address, expect to receive quite a load of e-mails from them: marketing ones, recommendations to sign up for credit cards and so on. They can be a bit annoying and aggressive in that regard, but hey, it’s a free service and it has to make a living. Other than that, rest assured that the service is legitimate and secure, it’s not a scam. Moreover, Credit Sesame claims it won’t give your personal information to third parties without your permission.

Pricing

Credit Sesame offers 4 options: a free membership and 3 paid plans: Advanced Credit ($9.95/month), Pro Credit ($15.95/month) and Platinum Protection ($19.95/month).

Credit Sesame has a support center on their website, which directs you appropriately, depending on your problem. However, there is no phone number displayed on their website and no live chat option; all you can do is send e-mails.

However, the website has a tone of self-help info, tips, articles, a blog, FAQ section, credit resources and a Q&A forum.

You can also find them on social media, on the platforms mentioned above.
