The Miele WDB020 is a premium front-load washer, sturdy and focused mainly on the cleaning quality and efficiency, as you would obviously expect from a German product. It doesn’t have smart features, apps and the most attractive design, but rather a more classic look, but we guarantee you will be impressed by it once you turn it on and do your first wash.

The Miele WDB020 washer is produced by Miele, a German home appliances company. Miele is a reputable name and it’s been on the market since 1899. It is a family owned company and it mostly manufactures high-end products, from kitchen appliances to washing machines, vacuum cleaners and more.

The WDB020 washing machine is a top-end front-load model. You can notice the premium quality of the washer in all its aspects, starting with the design and ending with its features and capabilities.

The WDB020 is an economical washer, extremely reliable and with impressive cleaning abilities.

Here are the main specs:

  • Dimensions in mm (W x H x D): 596 x 850 x 636
  • Weight: Around 198 lbs
  • Class A+++
  • Display: DirectSensor yellow, 7 segment
  • Control type: Rotary selector
  • spin speed: 1,400 RPM
  • Load capacity: 7 kg (15.4 pounds)
  • Energy consumption: 175 kWh/year

Read the full specifications.

As you can see from the specs, this washer has an average load capacity of 7kg.

The WDB020 has an enameled front which is scratch and corrosion resistant. It is also easy to maintain. It comes in lotus white and has a LED display and a rotary selector dial. The control panel is extremely minimalist, user-friendly and organized. There are 12 wash cycles to choose from, including cottons, delicates, dark garments/denim, woolens, shirts and more. On the black display there are also options to set the spin speed and temperature, a prewash and a soak feature. There is child lock as well.

The Miele WDB020 is definitely a German conceived product. It may not turn that many heads simply just with its looks, but when it comes to washing quality, it’s a whole different story. It is built to last, has a solid door and detergent drawer. The door mechanism is manual and you can also open the door lock manually during a cycle, should you need to, although it is not recommended to abuse of this function.

The washer has a stainless steel honeycomb drum design, which is special in that it is gentle on your laundry. Another thing we’ve noticed about it is its reduced noise level. The WDB020 is a quiet washer, especially when is not set on the highest spin speed.

And, most importantly, Miele washers are guaranteed to last you for 20 years of use, which is a reassuring piece of information. Not only that, but the WDB020 is a really affordable model, considering that Miele washers are all premium and don’t usually go below $1300. The WDB020 can be purchased for approx. $800.

There is a Cottons Eco wash cycle, which uses some preset resources, although  sometimes you might find the standard Cottons cycle more advantageous, because in the latter, the washer adjusts the resources to the load of laundry, depending on the quantity and soiling level. So if you have a lighter, less dirty load, it might be cheaper to use the standard mode. Also, you should know that the Eco mode takes around 3 hours to complete.

For those in need of a fast wash cycle, there is an Express mode which will take 20 minutes to do a load of approx. 3.5 kg. On the opposite end, there are prewash and Soak features available, for those really dirty loads.

There is also a self-cleaning cycle and the washer will alert you when it is time to use it to clean the machine, by lighting up a little cross symbol.

The cleaning abilities of the Miele WDB020 are indeed undeniable. And they can get even better if you are using their own cleaning products, more precisely, the CapDosing capsules, which are far superior to standard supermarket detergents. The capsules have a dedicated compartment in the detergent drawer and there are several types of capsules you can buy: for Sports, Outdoor, Down, Silk and more.

In conclusion, the Miele WDB020 is not so much about the looks, as it is about functionality, efficiency and durability. It has been thoroughly tested to last you for basically a lifetime and it is really a great value for the money.

The Miele WDB020 can be purchased from $800.
