COMPLETE REVIEW

Kenmore is a home appliance brand sold by Sears, Roebuck and Co. Kenmore manufactures more than just washing machines. They also make refrigerators, dishwashers, cooking appliances, garbage disposals, grills, water filters and more.

The Elite 31633 is one of the best and biggest top-loading washers you can buy. It has a very large capacity, of 6. 2 cu. ft.

Here are its main specifications:

  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 29.5 x 30.0 x 61.2 (height with the lid open)
  • Weight: 187 lbs. (shipping weight: 201 lbs.)
  • Adjustable legs
  • Washer interior capacity: 6.2 cu. ft.
  • Wash cycles: 10
  • Energy consumption: 290 kilowatt Hrs. per Year
  • Spin speed option: 5 levels

The Elite washer is a family-sized top-washer with a very generous interior capacity. It is definitely a bulky, heavy machine that is suited for people who produce hampers over hampers of laundry. You’d be advised to measure your laundry room carefully before purchasing this washer, as it may be too large to fit.

The Elite 31633 has a very stylish design and comes in two available colors: white and dark gray with metallic finish. The gray version costs about $80 more.

The washer has a main dial and a black touchscreen display. The controls are very intuitive and everything is easy to figure out. Our only complaint would be the fact that the touch is a bit too sensitive and you can easily press something you didn’t intend to.

It has 10 wash cycles: normal/casual, bulky/bedding, heavy duty, whites, sanitize, cold clean, delicates, express, rinse & spin, clean washer.

There are additional touch buttons that let you set the soil, spin speed, temperature and more.

The Elite 31633 doesn’t have that traditional agitator found in most top-load washers, but an impeller-style one which takes up less space and it doesn’t twist your laundry.

Another think we appreciated was the quiet direct drive motor and the Accela Wash feature that reduces the time of every wash cycle. All the cycles of the Elite 31633 take less than 1 hour with this feature, which is a very useful thing. This is a washer for people who have to do a lot of laundry and not being forced to wait a lifetime for a cycle to end is a crucial thing.

For more serious laundry problems you can also use the sanitization cycle and you can add steam. This is not just a big washer, but is also very efficient in removing the stains out of your laundry. Despite the fact that there isn’t a special wash cycle dedicated to stain removal, in our tests, the Kenmore Elite managed to obtain some of the best scores at removing stains. We were also pleased to notice that the washer is pretty gentle on the laundry.

The Elite 31633 has 5 spin speed levels but unfortunately, the highest spin speed is only 950 RPM, which also affects the quantity of water left in your clothes. There is going to be more water left in your laundry,  meaning your clothes will need some extra time in the dryer.

When it comes to energy efficiency, the Elite 31633 is Energy Star Certified and will add only around $40 to your electric bill.

Pricing

Kenmore is sold by Sears and the Elite model goes for $1062 (the metallic gray).
