The Behmor Brazen Plus can be a bit tricky to use, but it rewards you with a bold cup of coffee with a rich aroma. It uses a gold-tone filter that can be replaced with disposable paper filters if you prefer those. This coffee maker brews very hot coffee while allowing you to fully control the temperature options.

The Behmor Brazen Plus is an excellent specialty coffee brewer with an abundance of useful features. Thanks to its design, it looks and feels futuristic, as if the brewing basket is hovering over the carafe. Its many customizable options make it a number one choice for many coffee enthusiasts.

It’s important to note right from the start that the Behmor Brazen Plus made it into the exclusive company of only a few other coffee makers by being recognized by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) for its high standards in producing coffee.

One of the things that sets the Brazen Plus apart from is competition is its unusually large shower head. There was just one more coffee maker in our review that had it similar. Why is it important? Think about it, having a larger shower head allows the water to cover a bigger area and fully saturate the coffee in the filter. Reaching a certain level of moisture and saturation allows your coffee to release its fullest aroma and reach its maximum strength. Unfortunately, if you’re in a hurry, you’re going to want to skip the pre-soaking. The Behmor Brazen Plus takes over 10 minutes to run a full cycle with pre-soaking, heating and other processes that are part of the brewing. Additionally, it only brews 8-cups worth of coffee with a full water reservoir. This is somewhat disappointing since there were other coffee makers in our review that did the job in under five minutes, brewing more than 10 cups at a time. Nevertheless, the coffee quality the Behmor Brazen Plus produces is outstanding and if you don’t wish to wait, this coffee machine can be programed to start brewing at any specific time of the day.

The major selling points of this coffee maker are its extreme customization options. For example, you can set the desired water temperature you wish to be used for preparing your coffee anywhere from 190 to 210 F. On top of this, if you live in the mountains, the Behmor Brazen Plus allows you to input the elevation degree so you can brew warmer coffee for those colder days. This coffee maker produces very warm coffee to start with, and its stainless-steel carafe keeps it warm for longer than any other coffee maker we reviewed.

Other features the Brazen Plus boasts are the memory save function that notes the moment the machine suddenly stopped the brewing process in case you plugged it out of the wall accidentally or if there was power loss. Once you turn it on again, it will pick up from where it stopped. You also don’t have to worry about this happening when you’re not right next to it to turn it off when it’s done, since it features an automatic shut-off function for safety.

The Behmor Brazen Plus will save you a few bucks as well, since it uses a reusable gold-tone filter, but it leaves you the option of buying paper filters, too. A sleep mode makes sure the coffee maker is as energy efficient as possible when not in use.

Ease of use

The abundance of features and the level of customization of this coffee machine means that the Brazen Plus comes with a bit of a learning curve. And while first-time users will find it somewhat difficult to grasp all the options available to them, coffee aficionados will be ecstatic to get their hands on this machine.

Cleaning the Behmor Brazen Plus is a bit more complicated than with most other similar coffee makers. It requires you to buy citric acid and then use it to clean the machine thoroughly. The other parts of the appliance can be washed with soap and water and then wiped with a damp cloth.

This super customizable coffee maker is excellent for people who like to fiddle with their coffee machines in order to find what works best for them. Because it has so many advanced features, the Behmor Brazen Plus has a sizable learning curve that the first-time user might struggle with. It was certified by the SCAA and it provides an excellent cup of coffee with each brew.

Considering it was recommended by the SCAA, the Behmor Brazen Plus is averagely priced and can be found on Amazon for $159.00. Behmor offers a two-year warranty for this product.

Unfortunately, Behmor has one of the least helpful sites we’ve come across writing this review. It doesn’t have a FAQ section and it only offers a few instructional videos. Also, you can reach support only during weekdays, and only through an online form on their site.
