The Oster Pro 1200 is a powerful blender and a complex one. It comes with the 6-cup Boroclass glass jar, which is more thermally resistant than regular glass and it copes better with temperature changes. It is also dishwasher safe. The jar has a cup in the lid, which can also be used for measuring ingredients (it is a 2 ounces measuring cup).
The blender has a plastic base and a brushed-nickel coating. The stainless steel blades are larger than in previous Oster models, measuring 3.5”. The drive is metal and it is supposed to be more durable than plastic drives. Oster claims it should last up to 10,000 smoothies. As a tip, just try to remember not to blend hot liquids into the Smoothie cup. Only use the jar container for that.
The blender has 9 buttons with the following functions: on the top row you’ve got the pre-programmed functions: green and frozen smoothies, food chop and salsa, milkshakes. Below, you’ve got another row with 3 speed settings: low, medium and high, and below that, the Pulse button. On the bottom row you’ll find an On/Off button and a Stop button. All controls are self-explanatory so in terms of ease of use, you’ll have no problem with the Pro 1200.
The Pro 1200 is a powerful blender, and in this particular case, this also means a loud blender (louder than average). The noise won’t be that noticeable if you place the blender on softer surfaces, rather than on wood, for instance.
When it comes to its performance, the Pro 1200 Plus can make pretty much anything, from smoothies to margaritas and other drinks, sauces, soups. It can also grind coffee beans and crush ice.
The blades use both clockwise and counterclockwise rotations for a thorough blending cycle. It is what Oster calls ‘dual direction blade technology’.
