COMPLETE REVIEW

Breville is a company based in Sydney, Australia and it’s been on the market since 1932. It specializes in home appliances: espresso machines, coffee makers, ovens, blenders and food processors, microwaves, grills and more.

The Boss To Go is a great blender for smoothies and the cups are designed in such a way that you can just put the lid on them and take your smoothie to go. The blender was launched in 2016.

The main specifications of the Breville Boss To Go are:

  • Dimensions: 11.5 x 8 x 17.5 inches
  • Capacity: 1 Smooth Edge Tritan cup (25 oz); 1 Smooth Edge Tritan cup (18 oz)
  • Stainless steel blades
  • One speed
  • Power: 1000 watts
  • Voltage: 110-120 volts

Design

What you’ll notice right away with the Boss To Go is the attention to detail. It is very ingeniously designed to be ergonomic, comfortable and durable. The Boss To Go comes in a silver finish, it has a die-cast metal base and curved, stainless steel blades. The blades have a Kinetix Blade design, meaning they both cut your ingredients and pull them down so that you’ll get a smoother result. They are not sharp (sharper DOES NOT mean better), so you don’t risk cutting your fingers off while cleaning them or handling them. One minor and not constant issue with the blades is that they are sometimes hard to unscrew once your smoothie is ready.

The two cups included in the package are made of a solid, thick plastic which is premium BPA-free and it is thicker than average blender containers. They are resistant to shocks and dishwasher safe and they are narrow enough so that you can hold them comfortably in your hand.

The blender has a built-in cord wrap system so in case you don’t need the cord to be that long, you don’t have to have the extra cord dangling on the counter, you can just wrap it around.

Breville also found a smart way to deal with spillovers. There is a gap into the drive chamber which ensures that any spills will drain outside the blender and don’t end up inside, as it is the case with many other blenders.

The idea behind the ‘To Go’ model name comes from the fact that the containers are very portable. This is a blender for people constantly on the go. You just prepare your smoothie, you twist on the lid and you can take the cup to go, without fearing that your smoothie will spill in your purse or so. The containers are great to take with you when you are traveling.

The Boss To Go has a powerful motor. While the blender has no multiple speeds and it is as simple as it gets, you’ll come to realize you don’t even need more than it offers. It does a great job even when you use more difficult ingredients that are harder to pulverize, such as ice, seeds, greens or roots and the result is always perfectly blended smoothies.

With a power of 1,000 watts, you have to expect some noise out of the Boss To Go, but it is not something you have to put up with for more than a couple of minutes, at most and it is not a deal breaker.

The Breville also thought about protecting the blender from overloading, by including a protection system that automatically shuts down the blender in case you leave it running for too long or you overload it. In this case, you should let it rest for approx. 30 minutes before you start using it again.

The Breville Boss To Go is a great blender for smoothies and purees, simple but reliable, durable and powerful.

Pricing

You can get the Breville Boss To Go for $159.95. The blender comes with a one-year limited warranty from Breville.
