COMPLETE REVIEW

Blendtec is an American company based in Utah, a division of K-Tec Inc. Blendtec specializes in kitchen appliances and products, but is particularly known for its professional blenders, engineered and manufactured in US. The company has more than 40 years of experience in the field.

Blendtec Designer 725 is not the most affordable blender out there, but it is one of the best. It comes in three available combinations of colors: stainless and white, stainless and black and gunmetal. It is one of the most powerful blenders you can find, packing 1,800 watts of power.

Right from unboxing you are going to be impressed by the premium look of the Designer 725. The stainless steel finish looks really elegant and gives it a professional look. Another thing you’ll immediately notice when you pick it up, is its weight, as the Designer 725 is quite heavy, although it’s no wonder, given its powerful motor and the durable, high-quality materials it’s made of.

The blender has a large, illuminated touchscreen with all the controls, there are no physical buttons. All the controls have corresponding symbols above them and maybe at first you’ll have to scratch your head a bit before figuring out which does what. But the Designer 725 will guide you through when you first turn it on, just as a ‘tutorial’.

Here are the main specifications of the Blendtec Designer 725:

  • 8 peak horsepower motor
  • 6 program settings
  • 100-speed touch slider and Pulse
  • ‘Add 10 seconds’ feature
  • Single blunt blade
  • Weight: 10.7 lbs.
  • Dimensions (W x H x D): 7 x 15.5 x 9.25 inches
  • 15 amps, 120 volts

Container-wise, the Blendtec Designer 725 gives you several options: a 46 oz. Mini-Wildside jar, a 64 oz. FourSide Jar, a 90 oz. Wildside +Jar, a Twister Jar for smaller portions and Mini-Twister Jar (half the size of the Twister Jar).

The blender comes with the 90 oz. Wildside + Jar, which is plastic, BPA-free and it is dishwasher safe. However, you don’t have to worry about any discoloration or retaining smells, because it is not the case. This is a five-sided high-quality and durable copolyester.

Features

When it comes to the features of the Designer 725, the blender is really smart and complex. In addition to its capacitive touchscreen for all the controls, there is also a slider which lets you adjust the speed of the blender. And since we are on the subject of speed, you’ll be amazed to find out that this blender has no less than 100 available speed settings, which in our opinion is mainly for marketing purposes, because, let’s be serious, who feels the need to have dozens of speeds on their blender and who uses that many? And is there really any noticeable difference if you blend something at say 97 or at 100? Nevertheless though, the speed settings are definitely something to boast on when it comes to the Designer 725. One other cool thing is that the blender lets you know what speed you should use for various tasks: pureeing, chopping, stirring and so on.

The Blendtec Designer 725 is not just a smart device, but a polite one, too. The machine greets you with a ‘Hello’ when you turn it on and it also has some other programmed messages for when you turn it off, or for when a blending cycle ends.

The blender has 6 programs: Smoothie, Salsa, Whole Juice, Hot Soup, Ice Cream and one program called Clean, for when you are done with your blending. All you have to do is add a little water and let the Designer 725 clean itself.

One other feature that we found very useful is that ‘add 10 seconds’ feature. If you tap on the corresponding touch button, you can add 10 more seconds to any blending cycle, no matter what program you are using.

Performance

The Blendtec Designer 725 is a real monster in your kitchen. Its powerful motor will never disappoint you, no matter what challenge you put it through: crushing ice, veggie soups, smoothies and so on. Everything turns out perfectly smooth, no lost chunks of ingredients, as it is the case with budget blenders. Also, the order in which you add your ingredients is irrelevant with the Designer 725, because in the end, the results will be equally good, whether you put your ice on the bottom or on top, for instance. Everything will be perfectly minced either way.

And because it has such a powerful motor, you might be worried about the blender overheating. No need to worry, as this beast comes with a very useful cooling technology that prevents that from happening. The Blendtec Designer 725 is built to last, both in terms of blades and motor. What you can expect though, with such a motor, is a noisy blender. While it’s a bit improved compared to older Blendtec versions, the Designer 725 is nevertheless a loud machine.

The blade of the blender is also praise-worthy. It is blunt, so you don’t risk to get hurt or to have a hard time with it when you are cleaning the blender manually.

There’s nothing really you can dislike about the Blendtec Designer 725, aside from its steep price. But if you can afford to spare those $600, don’t hesitate and get the Designer 725, because you won’t be disappointed.

Pricing

As we’ve already mentioned it, the Blendtec Designer 725 is not exactly cheap. On the official Blendtec website, it has a price of $599.95. The blender comes with an 8 year warranty and a 30-day money back guarantee. In the box you’ll also get a quick-start guide and 10 recipes.
