SUMMARY:

The Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6500 is a pretty good toothbrush, but its price tag really hurts its ratings because it just doesn’t live up to the price tag. It comes with a lot of bells and whistles but is just too expensive for what you get in return. Don’t get us wrong, it is a really good toothbrush and lots of people love it but when we compare the value it just doesn’t compete. The travel case is a great addition and can charge on the go, but do you really need it and is it worth the additional costs?

Set aside the price and theProtectiveClean 6500 is well-equipped with the basics: three cleaning modes and intensities, a pressure sensor, and a smart timer, which dictates your brushing duration. Hence, this electric toothbrush is a solid choice for healthy and shining teeth but at a cost.

Look/toothbrush at a glance

When you get the ProtectiveClean 6500 into your hands you will see that it has a beautiful feel and look. When you open the box you will see that you get the main electric toothbrush, two pieces of the DiamondClean brush heads, one premium travel case, a charging stand, and instructions

Now with the closer inspection of our main star, the ProtectiveClean 6500 brush handle you can see why it costs so much. The finish on it is very nice, but at what cost?. In this case, Philips Sonicare made a luxury electric toothbrush for sure, but if that isn’t your thing then we suggest looking at other models.. The handle of 6500 is amazingly comfortable to hold, and the rubber grip makes it easier for you to hold it. Not to mention the electric toothbrush's water-resisting properties, which makes it a reliable tool, whether you are in the shower or around the sink.

Besides its function, there are also lots of visually appealing aspects that this toothbrush has to offer. Starting with the rich colors, you can choose from if you want some personalization. There are also dedicated power buttons and cleaning modes indicator and intensity to not get lost about remembering what mode you choose before.

The only downside of this product is the pressure sensor. It would make a lot more sense if there was a light to alert you if you brushed too hard.

Brand Quality

The premium case and BrushSync technology bring more superior performance and results and this is what we can expect from Sonicare. They have been around the industry for a long time and can make really nice electric toothbrushes.

Overall Amazon Reviews

Out of five stars from Amazon, the ProtectiveClean 6500 got 4.8 stars from 9,400+ customers. That rating exceeds the usual expectation of 4.5 to 4.7 stars from many rechargeable electric toothbrush ratings from the same store. With that said, the customers' expectations are always met with extra satisfaction because of this product.

Pricing

There are many colors ProtectiveClean 6500 is offering, namely Deep Purple, Black, Navy Blue, Pink, and White. In this case, we are reviewing a black one. Regardless, here are the pricing list of all colors based on Amazon:

Handle Only

Deep Purple - $99.96

Navy Blue - $97.95

Pink - $109.09

White - $99.99

For the package with a travel case and all the bells and whistles you can expect to pay around $150-165 depending if you can get it on sale, which happens pretty often.

Note that a 30-day money-back is guaranteed. This means that you have a chance to return the product and get your dollars back if you think the Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6500 model you purchased did not meet your standards.

Performance

Battery

For many portable devices to work, you will need a battery known as Lithium-Ion. This is the current generation's most powerful battery that the ProtectiveClean 6500 is using. While brushing twice a day it should last for around 2.5 weeks, and needs a couple hours to charge back to full capacity.

On the charging station, once the LED of the electric toothbrush flashes Amber, it needs charging. When it reaches medium battery, it will give a flashing green color. Finally, at 100%, a solid green color will flash, indicating a full charge.

Features

  • Three Cleaning Modes and Intensities

Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6500 lets you customize the cleaning mode, and intensity you think will best suit you. The default clean mode is your primary game-changer, which takes your brushing to a whole new level. Additionally, there are two options to choose from, namely White and Gum Care.

As the name indicates, the white model is your best choice if you wish an even brighter smile. This cleaning mode lasts two and a half minutes, where the first two minutes are clean mode, while the remaining half minute is for polishing mode.

Considering people who have gum issues, the gum care model is the perfect option. The cleaning cycle of gum care mode lasts for three minutes, where the first minute is a massage, and the last two minutes are intended for regular cleaning mode.

  • Smartimer with QuadPacer

In order to meet a superb result from extraordinary oral health care, a Smart Timer with QuadPacer is included on the compelling ProtectiveClean 6500. It essentially guides in brushing four sections of your teeth for every 30 seconds totaling two minutes, which is the recommended brushing time by oral health experts.

  • Pressure Sensor

While brushing, it is certainly inevitable to cause pain from excess pressure. The ProtectiveClean 6500 got your back with a reliable pressure sensor.

Unique Features

  • Premium Travel Case

Many people on the go will surely love the premium travel case Philips Sonicare has included in their package. It is much different from a normal case because it lets you protect the ProtectiveClean 6500 and charge it up at the same time.

  • BrushSync Technology

Brush heads usually do not last more than three months and need a decent replacement if you want uninterrupted next-level oral health care. With the BrushSync technology installed in the amazing 6500, you will get a tip on when to replace your equipped brush heads.
