SUMMARY:

Equipped with all the basics and an extra to provide next-level quality health care, the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 rechargeable electric toothbrush is a great choice to consider for someone looking for a mid tier experience.

For people who want more brushing options and intensities, this electric toothbrush will work for you. But of course, it will not work if you are looking to save some money as it is more on the expensive side . The better alternative we can recommend is the Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100. Both are technically the same, except it has only one cleaning mode. Regardless, we still recommend you consider 6100 to experience next-level quality oral health while having lots of brushing modes to choose from. The 4100 is one of our highest rated sets so we suggest taking a look at that review and comparing the cost of the additional features you get with the 6100 versus the 4100.

Look/Toothbrush at a glance

Included in the box you will find the following pieces to your set:

  • Sonicare Protective Clean 6100 brush handle
  • Two pieces of W2 Optimal White brush heads
  • Charging Station
  • Travel Case
  • Toothbrush Manual

Upon closer look at our main toothbrush, you will feel how nice it feels in your hand which is due to its high quality finish The color of your choice – be it White, Pink, Navy Blue, or Deep Purple – is well-painted on the brush head and the handle offer a new level of visual pleasure and a way to customize your toothbrush. In the 6100 main toothbrush body, an easy-touch power mode button can be found, which turns the device on and off with a sturdy feel so you don’t need to be really sensitive with it.

Below the power button is a single cleaning mode button, which lets you scroll through the different cleaning modes and intensities.

At the middle of the two buttons are three bars, which reminds us of signal strength dots common in mobile phones are equal to intensity bars in the 6100 model.

It is good to know that ProtectiveClean 6100 is waterproof, good for people who enjoy it using it in the shower.

Model Quality

Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 is one of the variants of the series. The product is technically the same as 6300 and 6500. The only differences are the contents of the box. All three have BrushSync technology, which is present in most ProtectiveClean electric toothbrushes. All of the mentioned electric toothbrushes also have a decent reputation on Amazon. Other than that, there is really nothing more special about this product.

Overall Amazon Reviews

Philips Sonicare's ProtectiveClean 6100 has been on Amazon for quite some time, and it’s no wonder as the electric toothbrush is still living up to its popularity. One of the highest rated Sonicare products it currently has 4.8 stars out of 5 from over 10,000 Amazon customers. Obviously, most feedback reflects the buyers' good experience from the compelling 6100, but of course, we have one share worthy issue found.

One customer shared her experience about the battery not taking any more charge. But that one complaint against the high number of positive reviews makes us believe it is a one off.

Performance

Battery

Any portable device like the ProtectiveClean 6100 will not work without the Lithium-Ion battery. Sounds familiar? Well, the strongest battery in the market and is used by the vast majority of battery-powered electronics to work. It leaves you good for two weeks of default clean usage (two brushing sessions daily for one person), enough to make a significant improvement than any manual toothbrushes.

After that, you will have to charge the battery for a couple of hours. It is important to note the following when charging:

  • A solid green LED flashes – full battery.
  • Flashing green LED – medium battery.
  • Amber LED + three beeps – the battery life is almost depleted.
  • Amber LED + five beeps – you need to charge the 6100.

Slowly but surely, you will be able to reach the hundred percent mark 24 hours after you plugged in your ProtectiveClean 6100.

Features

  • Three Cleaning Modes and Intensities

Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 has only one dedicated cleaning mode button. However, there are three cleaning mode indicators, namely Clean, White, and Gum Care. On the other hand, the brush intensity consists of three bars, namely Low, Medium, and High. The following are the ProtectiveClean 6100's cleaning modes in greater detail:

  1. Clean

The standard cleaning mode of every Philips Sonicare electric toothbrushes. Accompanied by the reliable pressure sensor and 2-minute timer with QuadPacer, this is the basic but an absolute game-changer if you are tired with the manual toothbrush.

  1. White

With 6100's White mode, you will get your desirable, attractive teeth. But of course, the first two-minute warm-up is the default Clean mode, and the remaining 30 seconds will be dedicated to Polish mode.

  1. Gum Care

Finally, we have the Gum Care mode for people with sensitive or inflamed gums. The first one minute will focus on massaging your delicate gums, then proceeds to remove dirt and plaque on your teeth for two minutes.

  • Pressure Sensor

Brush with comfort using Sonicare's Pressure Sensor. With this indispensable feature, you will never have to worry about the overbrushing you will cause with 6100. Unfortunately, it would be more appreciated if this model gives you a visual notification.

  • Smartimer/QuadPacer

While it is easy to control the ProtectiveClean 6100 into your teeth, chances are, you are missing some missing areas inside your mouth. Eliminate all dirt and plaque thoroughly and massage your gums better with the QuadPacer and timer. The inseparable tools make sure you have cleaned all four sections of your mouth within two minutes (but of course, it depends on the feature).

  • Decent battery life

Compared to some less powerful batteries in the market, Lithium-Ion battery always has something more to offer to ProtectiveClean 6100: extra days of use for customers. Another nice catch is it will only take you one full day to replenish its life.

Unique Features

  • BrushSync

ProtectiveClean 6100 is equipped with the BrushSync technology – an exceptional feature dedicated to reminding you to replace your brush heads every three months. As great as it sounds, it will cost you more dollars, but we are not saying it will not make any outstanding differences to your brushing experience.
