PROS:
CONS:
Talech is a cloud-based POS system designed specifically for iPads. Although that might be seen as an annoying limitation and a deal breaker for some users, this software deserves to be taken into consideration due to a number of reasons: it is very easy to use, it comes with a lot of useful features (some of them are really unique) and it works with 3rd party hardware.
Talech is a cloud-based POS software developed by the company with the same name. The company is a relatively young company, founded in 2014 and based in Palo Alto, California. The word “talech” comes from the Mayan word “tăléch”, which means “someone who listens to the needs of others”.
Their services are available in US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Spain. Talech has various types of customers, from retail businesses to restaurants, from merchants who make $200,000/year to merchants who bring as much as $10 million/year.
Their POS system is designed to work on any kind of iPad, as long as it runs on iOS 6.0 or higher and includes all kinds of useful tools, from tools for taking orders and processing payments, to features related to inventory management, employee management and so on.
Both plans include multi-store features (you can manage multiple locations), inventory and employee management features, order and payment features (you can accept multiple payment forms, split checks, apply tips, accept signatures and so on), reporting features (you can automatically track revenues, report taxes, etc.), cash drawer management tools (you can manage multiple cash drawers and more) and remote support. The remote support is a plus because it includes training, account setup and, most importantly, 24/7 online and phone support, which is not always included with basic plans, by many competitors.
If you sign up for their Premium plan, you will also get advanced features such as: inventory alerts and log, automatic discounts, split and merge orders and more.
This POS system works with most iPads: iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3 and iPad Mini 4. In terms of hardware, they mostly sell it in bundles, geared towards specific types of business. Talech can also be used with 3rd party hardware and all major US payment processors. Global Payments, Chase, Elavon, USAePay, Moneris, Vantiv are among their partners, but the list is much longer.
Talech also collaborates with OneSaas, which is basically a link between Talech and 3rd party apps. The software integrates with major ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento, OpenCart, Volusion, WooCommerce and other apps such as MailChimp, QuickBooks Online, Xero and others.
Talech is very easy to set up and use. Your account can be set up and be functional in a matter of minutes. There are helpful, trained technical reps who will get you through the entire process and you can also use the “how to” articles and video tutorials available on their website.
In addition to the common functions found in other POS systems, Talech brings some special features to the table, which set it apart from most of the competitors. Here are some examples:
Talech has 2 plans: Standard and Premium. The Standard plan is suitable for smaller businesses such as cafes, quick serves & food trucks, clothing and book stores, gift shops, etc. and starts from $62/month for the first device and billed annually. Additional devices are $35/month each.
The Premium plan is tailored for larger businesses like full service restaurants and bars, full service retail businesses. The price is $89/month for the first device and billed annually. Additional devices will cost you 44 more dollars/month each.
There is also a 3rd option available, called Enterprise, which is tailored for large businesses with specific requirements. In order to get a custom price, you have to contact them via phone or email. Phone: 1.888.995.1998 (toll free); e-mail: [email protected]

One cool thing about Talech is the fact that they offer 24/7 online and phone support even for customers who sign up for their Standard plan. Many competitors just include it with their higher tiers.
You can contact the support staff via live chat, phone or email, on a 24/7 basis. They also have an extensive resource center on their website, packed with video tutorials, how to articles, a blog and other helpful materials.
