COMPLETE REVIEW

Bindo is a relatively new platform, developed in 2013. The Bindo company is based in New York, but it also has offices in Singapore and Hong Kong. Their platform is currently used by more than 3,000 merchants. They boast on having processed over $1 billion in transactions so far and they have customers from more than 60 countries worldwide. The company has a C rating with the Better Business Bureau.

The Bindo POS system is cloud-based and it is designed specifically for iPads and iPhones (they have a mobile app, Bindo mPOS). This POS solution is best tailored for small businesses from various industries: retail, service-based businesses, full-service and counter-serve businesses.

Bindo claims it’s never had a security breach and their iPad POS system is PCI compliant.

Unfortunately, unlike some competitors, this company requires you to sign a contract with them, for at least one year. In case you want to cancel before the contract expires, you might be charged an early termination fee.

In terms of payment processing, Bindo is compatible with many companies: First Data, Vantiv, World Pay, Global Payments, Chase, TSYS and lets you accept all the major credit and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover. You can also accept mobile payments with it (like Apple Pay), because of its NFC capabilities.

When it comes to hardware, you can either buy it from them or use third-party hardware. If you buy it from Bindo, you would be relieved to know that it is “unlocked”, meaning that if, in the future, you don’t want to use their POS system, you can still use the hardware with other software.

The Bindo interface is straightforward and user-friendly, like almost any Ipad POS systems. You’ll be able to quickly figure out where everything is and how to use the basic functions.

Bindo includes all the features you have been used to, from CRM features, to inventory and staff management, register ones, etc.

There are some unique features as well, like those related to inventory management, which is one of Bindo’s strengths. They brought to the table the SST technology (simple scan technology), which allows you to scan an item’s barcode and Bindo will automatically find the product’s info such as name, photo, description and so on. Bindo’s inventory management tools support more than 100,000 products and it also has multi-store capabilities.

Other cool and useful features are the ability to store customer’s information, print out duplicate receipts, issue refunds, the PIN-based system for employee management, which lets you keep track of who is working on which cash register and for how long. Each time an employee checks in or out, the built-in Identity Safeguard takes a picture, so you don’t have to be worried that your staff might take advantage of you. There’s also the ability to create customer profiles, with names, emails, preferences (for example, preferred brands), etc. and loyalty programs that allow you to reward clients based on number of purchased items or spent dollars and so on.

Bindo offers a generous number of integrations: Quickbooks, Xero, Magento, Shopify, Microsoft Dynamics and many more.

Pricing

Bindo offers a free 14 day trial with no credit card requirements. After that, the best way to go is to request a quote from them, as they don’t have a fixed price for all their customers. Their plans are custom tailored to best meet the needs of any customer and business. They are not transparent about their pricing, which is a flaw from our point of view, but the software subscription costs $59/month. This price doesn’t include credit card processing fees. If you choose them as your payment processor, these fees are 2.49% + $0.15 for swiped transactions and 3.49% + $0.15 for keyed-in transactions.
