SUMMARY:

Among many email marketing platforms, Benchmark Email is one of the few that emphasize strong design capabilities, which bundled with plenty of integrations and campaign management options makes a great service. Add to this the fact that it’s one of the few services to offer free-for-life plans. Benchmark Email might be a great provider, but there is still room for improvement.

COMPLETE REVIEW

The service boasts two types of plans: free without limits and paid, with various list length and refined pricing without sharp price boundaries. Benchmark Email is a leader in pricing flexibility. There are just two tiers of features: those included in the free plan and those available to any paid account.

The Free plan allows sending up to 14,000 mails to a list of up to 2,000 contacts, and access to some features which are rarely found anywhere for free. This includes A/B testing for the subject line, signup forms, and contact list segmentation. There is also list automation, a Google Analytics integration, pools and surveys, delivery management, access to a responsive template library and a drag-and-drop editor.

Upgrades from the free plan can be started anytime, while changes from one to another paid plan will be done after the next billed month. Unfortunately, there are no prepayment discounts.

The tracking and report suite will tell the destiny of every email and the subsequent customer action if happened. Speaking of integrations, Benchmark email offers opportunity to connect your account with almost all notable social networks and business tools, including WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Paypal, Shopify, and more. You can integrate with PayPal, Gmail, Tumblr and Shopify to add contacts from these services to your mailing list without hassle.

Some other useful integrations include Zapier which adds plenty of other integrations, SurveyMonkey to send effective surveys and get feedback via a template integration. Also, you can promote your products listed on Etsy and Ebay. There are even more integrations which can help you build your list and tweak your campaigns.

Phone support is available from the US and Europe. There is an international phone number for customers from any part of the world. Other parts of email include live chat, email support and onsite documentation, from in-depth manuals, to video tutorials, webinars and FAQs.

Email Creation And Sending

To make and send your email blast, you can start with various special purpose and industry-defined templates, edit colors, add images and manipulate them in the powerful image editor. All templates are customizable, so users can change them, import or make new templates from scratch. This can be done in the drag-and-drop mode and with coding. All existing templates are responsive and redundant, made to run with ease even on slow and small screen devices. Code editing can be done in dual editor, so the developers can immediately see how their changes affect the template.

Benchmark Email does not offer template editing and designing services.

List Options

Contacts can be imported in bulk as CSV, XLS and TXT files, manual adding, pasting and by direct replication of contact lists from integrated services. Benchmak Email can add a signup form to your website which would let a steady inflow of really interested people.

EasyList is a mobile mailing list builder that can help account users manage the list while on the go. This application is available for iPad and Android devices, as well as desktop Windows computers.

BOTTOM LINE

Benchmark Email Is a great service for those who consider the beauty of a newsletter an important factor in getting more followers and making more sales. Users are encouraged to begin with the free account which is a good way to try the service’s features. This is great for absolute beginners who need some time to learn how to properly set up an email campaign. You can stay with the Free plan as long as you want and upgrade to a paid plan right after you hit the limits of the free one.

Pricing

Paid plans start with $12 for lists with 600 contacts or less, and add features like inbox and email client preview, A/B testing of the entire content, not just the subject line, structured account users, and engagement response management tools.

The next plan is $19 for 1,000 users, followed by $25 plan for 1,500 users, $29 for 3,000 subscribers and so on. The longer the list, the lower the price per contact and if you want a 10,000 contacts plan  you will pay $74; 30,000 subscriber one goes for $180, a 100,000 plan for $450 and so on. Smaller lists come without sending limits. Lists with more than 50,000 users have sending limitations and you can send an average of about 14 mails to each. For example, a $339 plan for 70,000 subscribers allows 980,000 mails, whilst for $3.885 you get an opportunity to send 14 million messages to a list of a million subscribers. Prices are well defined even for these largest, giant lists, and the most expensive defined plan is the one which lets users send 100 million emails to a crowd of 7.14 million people for $29.200.
