PROS:
CONS:
Ashop is an ecommerce solution suited especially for small and medium businesses. We liked the fact that they have all the basic features you need to set your store up and the customer support is praiseworthy. On the other hand, we didn’t appreciate the small number of available add-ons and integrations, the huge discrepancy of features between the cheapest plan and the more expensive ones and the fact that there are limitations in terms of storage and number of products.
Ashop Commerce is a popular ecommerce platform, in business since 2004. The company is based in Australia, but they also have offices in US and UK.
Ashop comes with strong, 24/7 customer support, good security and plenty of useful features. It offers SEO services and full setup and design services for your online store.
Ashop gives its potential customers the chance to try out their services before they sign up for any plan. You can test their products for 14 days, free of charge and with no credit card requirements. All you have to do is provide a store name and your email, in order to start your trial period.
Their most affordable plan in Starter and this package includes up to 500 products, 1 GB web space, selected payment gateways and phone, ticket and chat support.
The Professional tier comes with 1,000 products, 2 GB web space, blog, gift certificates, all payment gateways and the ability to sell digital goods.
If you are willing to sign up for their Enterprise plan, you get 10,000 products, 5 GB web space, no Ashop branding, B2B and fraud protection.
All plans have unlimited bandwidth. Although we appreciate that, the fact that the storage is limited could be a deal breaker for those who have a lot of videos or images at a high resolution. We also didn’t like the limitations of products, especially considering that the numbers aren’t very high. Overall, we noticed that the cheapest plan has some annoying limitations, lack some pretty useful features: it doesn’t offer access to all available payment gates and the themes are not mobile responsive.
Ashop lets you use your own domain name and allows you to upgrade or downgrade anytime you want.
This SaaS is integrated with more than 80 payment gateways, banks and third party processors: PayPal, Braintree, Pin Payments, Google Checkout, eway, WorldPay, Authorize.Net, Bank of America, SecurePay and many more. You can see the complete list here: http://www.ashopcommerce.com/g/2565/supported-payment-methods.html
In terms of design, Ashop offers a real-time editor, but in our opinion, it’s not the most user-friendly we tested. However, once you get familiarized with everything, you can do pretty much anything you want. There is a startup wizard that will help you set up your store and the WYSIWYG editor lets you customize your online store according to your own preferences. You can change the background, colors and fonts or you can also edit with HTML/CSS files, if you are up to it.
A good thing about this ecommerce platform is the fact that it offers a lot of free templates (more than 80), although some of them are quite dull, in our opinion.
In terms of add-ons and integrations, Ashop leaves room for improvement: this shopping cart doesn’t integrate with WordPress, Amazon or eBay and if you need to integrate with any email campaign or accounting software, you have to use Zapier, which means extra costs for you.
Ashop does have a Facebook connect feature that allows your customers to sign in with their Facebook account.
They do try to compensate with more than 80 payment gateways available, which is a useful thing and good security (128-bit SSL certificate from DigiCert and daily monitoring and backups).
Here are some more helpful features offered by Ashop:
Ashop has 3 plans to choose from: Starter, Professional and Enterprise.
Starter costs $25/month or $249/year.
Professional is your next choice and it starts from $69/month or $690/year.
Their most expensive option is Enterprise, which is $249/month or $2,490/year.

Customer support is one of Ashop’s most noteworthy qualities. Their website has a useful Resources section, with FAQ, a blog, an Ecommerce School and Support Portal. There is an active forum, video tutorials and other helpful tools. If your wallet can take it, you can even use their professional services and have your store set up and designed for you.
You can contact them via phone, email or live chat. Live chat support is the most efficient; you will get assistance within just a few seconds.
