COMPLETE REVIEW

You might have heard about GoDaddy in different contexts until now. They are primarily known for their domain name services and their website builder. But their offer is more complex than that.

The GoDaddy bookkeeping software is an online one and it is especially suited for freelancers and small businesses. And while it doesn’t really come up with constant updates and some in-depth tools are missing, the GoDaddy Online Bookkeeping is a really useful tool for several reasons.

GoDaddy offers 3 plans to choose from: Get Paid, Essentials and Premium.

With the Get Paid tier you get just the basics, such as invoices and estimates, time tracking, a few reports, mobile apps and mileage deductions.

The Essential plan is more complex. With this plan you also get full access to reports, live bank feeds, tax support and integrations with eBay, PayPal, Amazon, Etsy.

Their most expensive plan is the Premium one, which also adds recurring invoices to the offer.

Before signing up for either of the plans, you should know that they only support ONE USER.

While GoDaddy doesn’t offer a free trial, you do get one interactive tour of the software and a 30-money back guarantee.

In terms of system requirements, the GoDaddy bookkeeping software is really versatile, as it is web-based. You can use it with any browser, but you should update them, for best functionality.

GoDaddy also offers apps for iOS and Android devices.

How it works and features

The interface of the software is simple and well-organized, and the setup process is also user-friendly, although a bit lengthy, because you have to go through an initial survey first.

After you sign up, you can start using the software right away or, if you feel you need to, you can take the guided tour.

From the Manage tab you have all the basic options: you can set your invoice preferences, import your contacts, set your income and expenses and so on.

Other sections besides Manage are the Income, Expenses, Invoices, Reports, Taxes and Overview. All the new features in the software are clearly marked with ‘what’s new’.

When it comes to Reports, GoDaddy offers a pretty wide variety of options. You can choose between Profit and Loss, Sales by State, top vendor, top customer, reports for invoice status and payments, top items and more.

There are a lot of invoicing tools you can use, too. You can set notifications for when the customer has paid his invoice and they can also receive notifications when the online payment is made. Another notification is available for overdue invoices.

You can add any tax to the invoice and your company’s terms at the end of it (such as a deadline for the payment for instance).

The GoDaddy online bookkeeping software is really useful for online retailers, especially thanks to the integrations with eBay, Amazon, Etsy. This means ecommerce sellers can link their eBay, Amazon, etc. sales with GoDaddy.

Time tracking is another pleasant surprise with this bookkeeping software. It allows you to input billable/unbillable time and convert the worked hours into an invoice.

When it comes to bank reconciliation, you should be pleased to know that GoDaddy has partnerships with more than 3,800 banks in the US and offers support for all the major credit cards. GoDaddy lets you import bank statements by .csv and .qfx, and you can enter transactions manually. What the software can’t do is detect duplicate transactions, so you have to delete them manually.

On the downsides of the GoDaddy bookkeeping software, our bigger complain is the fact that it only supports one user, which is really a deal breaker.

Another drawback is the fact that GoDaddy doesn’t really release updates, especially for their mobile apps, which are the same since 2015.

Other shortcomings are the basically inexistent payroll capabilities and the lack of multi-currency support.

The GoDaddy online bookkeeping software is definitely not the most complex accounting solution out there and it does lack some essential features needed by larger companies. But if you are a freelancer or you are just getting started and need a simple, easy to use solution to keep your finances, GoDaddy is a good starting point.

Pricing

GoDaddy Online Bookkeeping offers 3 plans: Get Paid, Essentials and Premium.

The Get Paid plan is priced at $4.99/month.

The Essentials plan is priced at $9.99/month.

The Premium plan is priced at $14.99/month.

Regardless of the plan you sign up for, you get a 30-day money back guarantee.
