SUMMARY:

The Powerbot R7070 from Samsung is one of the most powerful robot vacuums you can find and it proves to be a tough competitor for the popular Roomba 980 and the Neato Botvac Connected. It has premium features and the most powerful suction we’ve seen so far while still being more affordable than the aforementioned competitors. It cleans your home impeccably and does an impressive job on every type of surface. The control app does leave room for improvements, as it has some annoying bugs, but it is user-friendly and has a lot of useful features.

COMPLETE REVIEW

The Samsung Powerbot R7070 is manufactured by the multinational conglomerate Samsung, the biggest corporation in South Korea. Samsung is no stranger on the electronics market, where it activates since the late 1960s.

The Powerbot R7070 is a top rated robot vacuum cleaner, along with the iRobot Roomba 980 and the Neato Bovac Connected, but it is a bit more affordable. It is a more convenient alternative to the Powerbot Turbo R9350, which is over $1,000.

The Powerbot R7070 has the most impressive suction power we’ve seen, as advertised by the company, which promises the R7070 comes with 40x more suction. And it does!

Specifications:

Dimensions (W x H x D): 13.4 x 3.8 x 13.7 inches

Weight: 9.5 lbs.

Suction (W): 20

Dust capacity: 0.3 L

The Powerbot has WiFi connectivity and has Google Assistant and Alexa support. It has a camera and an optical and infrared navigation and cleans the room diagonally. It automatically adjusts its suction power according to the type of surface, boosting more power on carpets and in corners and it has Edge Clean Master and a self-cleaning brush. It also has a transparent window on which you can see what it picked up. The R7070 has a touch display and 3 buttons: cleaning mode, play/pause, docking station.

Unfortunately, unlike its major competitors, the R7070 is not as self-reliant and requires you to help it quite often, if the vacuum comes across any obstacles such as clothing or throw rugs. Instead of trying to avoid them and change its route, the Powerbot often starts beeping asking for your help or starts dragging them around the room. Its bulky design doesn’t help either and it gets stuck from time to time.

The suction power of this unit though it’s really impressive. It manages to pick up any debris from any surface.

The app is not the best they could develop. The set up process is quick and easy and you can connect the Powerbot to the WiFi without any issues, but the app has quite some bugs that are annoying. It crashes quite often or loses connection to the server. Bugs aside, from the app you can steer the Powerbot, schedule it, view battery life, view the history, the summary of the cleaning session with a trail map on which you can see how the R7070 moved throughout the home and more. You can also control almost everything through the remote control that comes with the Powerbot.

In terms of battery life, the R7070 has 3 modes: quiet, normal and turbo. On the quiet mode you get a run time of approx. 90 minutes, which is about the average. On the Normal mode the R7070 lasts for an hour, while on the Turbo mode you can only use it for about 30 minutes, which isn’t the most impressive result.

Maintenance-wise, the Powerbot is extremely easy to clean. The dustbin can easily be removed and then the filters slide out too. Another thing we can mention is the fact that the filter is washable.

Overall, we find the Powerbot to be one of the best compromise in terms of price and quality. It is a premium model and a top rated vacuum cleaner, while still being more affordable than the Roomba 980 or Neato Botvac. It has the strongest suction power we’ve seen so far and cleans thoroughly every type of surface in your household.

Pricing

On the official Samsung website the Powerbot R7070 goes for $499, thanks to its generous $200 discount. The box contains the Powerbot, the charging dock, a remote control, a roll of magnetic tape and an extra filter.
