The Ecovacs Deebot N75S is an affordable robot vacuum cleaner and a great value for the money. If you are an Amazon Alexa fan, you don’t mind returning the favor and cleaning the robot too at least once a week, you want something powerful, especially for your hardwood/laminate floors, but you don’t want to break the bank, give this little guy a chance.

The Ecovacs Deebot is produced by Ecovacs Robotics, a Chinese company. The company specializes in developing home robotic appliances and was founded in 1998. Their most popular product is the Deebot robot, a floor cleaning robot vacuum. They are also known for their air purifying machine called Atmobot and their Winbot, a window cleaning robot.

The Ecovacs Deebot N79s is a pretty budget-friendly device and a great value for the money.

The design of the Ecovacs Deebot is quite standard, nothing out of the ordinary. It’s your average circular machine, not the slimmest, not the thickest, and it should fit under pretty much all your furniture. It comes in a dark chocolate color and it has an anti-scratch finish.

Main specs:

  • Dimensions: 13 x 13 x 3.1 inches
  • Weight: 7.05 lbs.
  • 4 cleaning modes
  • 3-stage cleaning system
  • 120 minutes battery life; auto-return charging
  • Android and iOS compatible app
  • Remote control

The robot vacuum has its sensors on the top and a button for activating the Auto Clean mode of the Deebot. It has rubberized wheels and 3 brushes, one rotary brush and 2 sweeper ones. The side brushes of the N79S are mainly designed for hard wood floors and floors with short carpets. On other types of surfaces the brushes will bent and easily damage. The side brushes have to be attached manually but they snap into place with no effort.

The Deebot N79S comes with a remote control which has buttons for the Auto Clean, Start and Pause, Scheduling, Time and Date, WiFi Setup, Edge Cleaning, Spot Cleaning and Room Cleaning. However, you can also control the vacuum via your phone, so the remote control is just a bonus, not a must, although, at times, you may find the robot more responsive to the remote control than the commands given through the phone.

The robot vacuum works by downloading the app and installing on your mobile device. It is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. You have to follow a few simple steps to set up the robot and then it’s all good to go.

You can stir the Ecovacs N79S from your smartphone and you can choose between the available cleaning modes. You’ve got the Auto mode, programmed for cleaning your house in the most effective way, the Edge mode, which is pretty self-explanatory (it focuses more on the corners and edges), the Room mode, which doesn’t differ all that much from the auto mode, with the exception that it focuses more on a specific room rather than the entire house, and the Spot more, which focuses on specific segments. You can also check the battery level and schedule cleanings.

The Deebot N79S works with Alexa and it works great. On the other hand, it is not as responsive with other assistants such as Google and it doesn’t work with Samsung SmartThings, Wink, Nest, HomeKit.

The robot has anti-drop and anti-collision sensors, automatic software update, air filtration and protective bumpers.

The Ecovacs Deebot has a battery life of 120 minutes and an auto-return charging feature.

Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot N79S does a really great job for the money, it works wonderful with Amazon Alexa and it is a pretty powerful little beast. It does have its limitations and requires commitment on your part, maintenance-wise, but it can prove to be a useful cleaning appliance in your home.

You can get the Ecovacs Deebot N79S for approximately $230.

Performance wise, the Ecovacs Deebot N79S is a treat. The robot is really powerful, it can even suck up larger objects, not just dust, hair, crumbs and so on. It is not the most quiet robot vacuum out there, but not the noisiest either. Its sensors are accurate and impressive at detecting obstacles. The smaller, insignificant ones will be pushed aside by the Deebot, while the problematic ones will make the robot go around them and find another route, most of the times…The Ecovacs might get stuck every now and then, especially in areas that are more crowded, but no more than other vacuums, so there’s nothing to worry about. If it does get stuck, it will desperately ask for help by beeping really loud.

The one thing you may not be pleased with is how fast the Ecovacs gathers dirt/dust. They cling quite easy to the N79S and if you want it to perform properly and enjoy it for as long as possible, you do have to do a lot of maintenance work. In its defense though, Ecovacs does recommend you give it a full clean at least once a week, so if you stick to that recommendation, the robot should work just fine. You have to clean the vacuum, dust bin and filters.
