The Cuisinart CPT-440 is a high-end toaster, with 4 extra-wide slots, a motorized lift and Bagel, Reheat and Defrost features. It looks very good and stylish in any kitchen and it performs well on every setting. It is not the most affordable toaster out there but you will get your money’s worth.
The Cuisinart CPT-440 is manufactured by Cuisinart, which is owned by Conair Corp since 1989. Cuisinart is a reputable brand when it comes to kitchen appliances. In addition to toasters, they are also renowned for their coffee makers, blenders, food processors, grills and more.
The CPT-440 is a high-end pop-up 4-slice toaster with motorized control. It comes with a beautiful brushed stainless steel housing, it has a LED display and countdown timers. It is one of the most expensive toasters offered by Cuisinart.

The CPT-440 has a very stylish and modern look. It has 4 wide slots (you can easily fit slices of bread, bagels, pastries and frozen pancakes in them), dual control panels and multiple functions. There are two blue backlit LED countdown timers which show you the progress, in the form of bars (the fewer bars, the less time until your toast is ready). You’ve also got 7 browning settings which allow you to choose the level of browning: for a light shade you can use the settings 1-2, for a medium toast the settings 3-5 and for the darkest shade, the 6 and 7. You control the level of browning from the ‘+, -’ buttons under the blue LED display.
One of the things we liked the best was the motorized lift on the Cuisinart CPT-440, which is enabled by pressing on the Toast button (the Toast button replaces the lever) and lowers the slices into the toaster. We also noticed that the mechanism is really quiet.
When your toast is ready the motorized lift raises the slices back up, so you can get them out easily. The lift raises above the housing of the toaster, so you don’t risk burning your fingers. There is also a beep alert that lets you know that your toast is done.
The Cuisinart CPT-440 has 3 additional buttons: Reheat, Defrost and Bagel and a Cancel function. Each of them performed above average during all our tests. The CPT-440 obtained a good score in terms of toasting time and it doesn’t get too hot when in use. The only flaw we could really find was the level of browning. Even on the highest setting, your bread is not going to get that dark brown, which for some people might be a drawback. However, it is a subjective thing and a matter of taste.
Other than that though, you can’t really find anything wrong with the Cuisinart CPT-440. It may be a bit steep in price considering that in the end it is just a toaster, but it is nevertheless a premium kitchen appliance, with an attractive design and a solid build quality, so we definitely recommend it.
