SUMMARY:

GuidetoLenders provides the public with a lot of information; however, they take more liberties with the information that’s provided to them. Saying that a person cannot withdraw their consent to have their information shared is wrong. Anyone who submits any information to any website should have the right to say how that information is used. Taking away this right makes the case that you should not have the right to collect this kind of information. Hiding behind complex documents will never keep the truth buried for long. Eventually someone is going to read between the lines and discover what’s happening.

COMPLETE REVIEW

GuidetoLenders is a unique entry in this category. It’s not a lender or a broker. It’s a directory of information that’s geared towards making it easier for their customers to compare several different categories of short term financing. A single person could do the work that GuidetoLenders does; however, it would take a lot more time and effort to get the job done. Finding the right kind of financing is all about doing your homework. You shop around to see which entity is going to give you the best deal for the kind of financing you need.

Measuring Truthfulness of Claims

In an effort to draw in customers, financial companies have the tendency to make claims they cannot back up. These claims are either over the top and too good to be true or harmless enough to be passed over without any additional concern. GuidetoLenders makes a doozy of a claim at the top of their page when they say “Make lenders compete for your business.” We scrounged their website trying to find any evidence that what they’re describing in this claim is part of their functionality. It’s not.

Evaluating the Selection

Attention to detail is a major drawing point to the directory at GuidetoLenders. They exhaustively scrounged the world of finance to find a list of options that encompasses most of what is offered in the industry. You would be hard pressed to find a similar resource that offers as much data as what you will find on this website. The amount of options they have is not an indication of the value of their service though. The information that’s returned when you click on these options is what truly counts.

Testing Each Option

To see if GuidetoLenders was as it claimed to be, we tested out several of the options they had on their website. While some of these options returned back less than impressive results, we found their database of material is be plentiful and accurate. After cross checking the information we received, we determined that the success rate of this service is impeccable. The service is so easy to use too. All you have to is enter in your location and they do the rest of the work for you.

Enhancing Your Knowledge Base

GuidetoLenders takes a break from bestowing insanely accurate comparisons on the public to display multiple informative articles. The financial word is tricky. You might think that you’re competent when really you have a lot left to learn. Operating on assumptions is the worst possible thing to do in these situations. You have to know what you’re doing or you might as well not do anything at all. Your bottom line will thank you for your cautiousness. You need to look at the source of the information you’re getting though. There’s some suspect information that will do you more harm than good if you come across it.

Looking at the Privacy Policy

For a service that doesn’t require you to enter much information, GuidetoLenders has an overly complex privacy policy. The presence of this document is understandable. It puts the minds of the people who use the service at ease, however, when it’s written in a way few people can comprehend and goes on for so long that visitors will stop after the first paragraph, you have to wonder about its contents and effectiveness. Any document, including privacy policy, can be simplified into a more easily understandable format. It all comes down to the expertise of the person who's creating the document.

Picking Through the Terms of Use

Very few of us read through the privacy policies on the websites we frequent. This group becomes even smaller when you consider the terms of use. This document is valuable because it outlines how a company does business. In the case of GuidetoLenders, their terms of use are more complex than their privacy policy, if that’s possible. People who know how to read these documents will go to the section that interests them the most and check out what it has to say. There’s no way that they would start from the top and work their way to the bottom.

Finding Someone Who Can Help

Nobody is saying that a service as simple as GuidetoLenders needs to have customer service representatives. It stands to reason that their privacy policy and terms of service pose more questions than answers. Visitors to this website would be wise to give them a call to see exactly what they were talking about in these documents. Financial companies have the responsibility to be transparent to their customers. If they fall short in explaining themselves, they have to be willing to answer questions that fill in the gaps. Establishing a productive relationship is key to fostering long-term results for everyone involved.

Defining E-Sign Consent

At the bottom of the homepage for GuidetoLenders, there’s a link that says “E-Sign Consent.” We had no idea what this meant, so we made the decision to investigate further. Come to find out it’s a troublesome document that says you’re locked into sharing your personal information from the moment you enter it into one of their forms. The simple act of hitting the submit button renders any chances you think you had of withdrawing your consent null and void. This document is so much like a privacy policy it could easily replace the one they have on there already.
