OptionsXpress has a well optimized, intuitive platform, suitable for users of any online stock trading proficiency. The platform lets you trade in stocks, futures, options, forex and more. Although it’s not as customizable as some other solutions in our review, optionsXpress offers all the tools (including a mobile app) and features you will need to successfully trade and invest. This online stock trading company has reasonable prices and it comes with a learning center if you need any guidance.
OptionsXpress is a very well-known name in the online stock trading business. It offers multiple investment choices on an impressive multi-functional platform. OptionsXpress is one of the rare few that offer other investment vehicles - an opportunity not many other companies have.

OptionsXpress offers a full range of powerful tools and features you can use to maximize your trading experience. For example, there are various analytic tools, charts, calculators, news streams and more similar tools all optimized to be accessible by professional and rookie traders. While all features are easy to use, the charting tool can be a bit tricky if you’re using it for the first time. Although optionsXpress’ online platform offers many different utilities, it does little in the way of customization of the platform itself. This isn’t such a big deal, although certain other platforms we reviewed let you add different kinds of widgets to help you get a better overview of the details most important to you.
OptionsXpress specializes in providing a reliable atmosphere for trading with options. All available tools and features are there to simplify the trading process no matter how complex it may be. If you’re a seasoned trader you can create your own strategies, or if you’re a rookie, you can choose from one of the preexisting ones like the condor, butterfly, straddle and others. The platform is extremely well designed with all features clearly marked for easier navigation. This is very important if optionsXpress is your first online stock trading platform since it makes finding your way around the site much easier.
Like any serious online broker, optionsXpress also has a mobile app optimized to work on iPhones, iPads, Android devices and the Kindle Fire. The app is basically a simplified version of the desktop platform, allowing you almost all benefits you get from the desktop version. Although you can’t create alerts, the app lets you make trades, check real-time quotes, manage options and more.

OptionsXpress has recently lowered its trade fees. For $4.95 per stock/option trade, this online stock broker is one of the most reasonably priced in our review. The $8.95 fee for an option contract exercise/assignment is also lower than most other offers in our review. An added convenience is that optionsXpress doesn’t require a minimum balance when you open an account, and the broker assisted trades are also free which is a unique opportunity in our review.

The learning center on the main website offers a lot of useful information on investing and online trades. Some of the resources include a blog, web seminars or tutorial videos. The simulated training feature is an excellent opportunity to hone your trading skills in a safe environment before making any real investments. Although the website offers a lot of information on various topics regarding trading and investing, it isn’t suitable for complete beginners since it assumes you have some kind of online stock trading experience. For instance, even though the tutorials show you how to use the platform in great detail, they don’t pay as much attention to investment strategies which can be crucial for new and inexperienced traders.
