PROS:
CONS:
Even though Debtmerica is a transparent, trustworthy debt settlement company, with many accreditations and good ratings, its fees are above standard and the reduction percentage after fees is lower than the average. It also requires a minimum of $10,000 in unsecured debts in order to accept you in the program.
Debtmerica relief is a debt settlement company founded in 2006 in Pennsylvania. It is accredited by the IAPDA (International Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators) and AFCC (American Fair Credit Council), it is an accredited member of TASC (The Association of Settlement Companies) and became an Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Company in 2009 and 2010. It also has an A+ rating with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and it complies with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) guidelines on debt relief services.
The company offers various debt relief solutions, from bankruptcy to consumer credit counseling and debt consolidation.
Debtmerica’s customers obtain a 29% reduction after fees, which is not the best on the market.
The length of the program is around 24 to 48 months, varying from case to case. Overall, they fit into the industry average. In order to be eligible for their services, you have to have a minimum of $10,000 in unsecured debts, which could be a drawback for some people, given the fact that there are companies that don’t have such requirements (New Era Debt Solutions to name just one). Debts that qualify are student loans, medical bills, credit cards and others.
One thing we didn’t like was the fact that Debtmerica doesn’t display anywhere on their website the number of states in which they operate. In order to find that out, you have to contact them personally. The only thing that is specified is the fact that their programs are not available in all states.
An interesting and less common thing is the fact that Debtmerica’s website is available in 3 languages: English, Spanish and Vietnamese. On the downside, Debtmerica could make its website more useful, by displaying what we consider to be essential information such as more contact options (all you can find is their phone number, there is no "Contact us" section) and the states in which they operate.
If you decide to enroll in one of their programs, you are entitled to a free consultation. You can call them directly at the number displayed on the website or you can get the free online evaluation, by filling in the necessary info, such as name, debt amount, state of residence and so on and wait to be contacted by one of their senior debt professionals.
Debtmerica’s website is also useful to people who want to educate themselves or enrich their knowledge about debt consolidation, debt settlement, bad credit and so on. There is an “Articles” section and a “Debt News” one, where you can find useful tips and info on the mentioned topics.
Debtmerica charges around 20% to 24%, which are not the lowest fees we’ve seen. They are a bit higher than the average. However, there are no hidden fees, upfront fees or consultation fees and you will pay based on their performances. This is a good thing, considering that there are scammers out there who will find all sorts of loopholes in order to squeeze more money from you. Debtmerica might not be the best deal, but at least they are transparent and trustworthy.

Despite the fact that they have an extensive FAQ section and a rich knowledge base, you can’t really find any “Contact us” section on the website. The only contact data you’ll find is their phone number and social media accounts.
