COMPLETE REVIEW

The company was founded in 1999, in Kevin Sproles's bedroom. It's been one of the most popular ecommerce software for more than 15 years. Volusion has generated more than $24 billion in merchant sales worldwide, it has over 40,000 customers and over 250 employees.

Volution offers 4 plans: Mini, Plus, Pro and Premium.

A cool thing about the plans offered by Volusion is that they all include unlimited storage (even the Mini plan). Volusion also claims they all come with automatic tax rates, Facebook store, Mobile App and other useful features.

Another plus is the fact that Volusion doesn't charge any transaction fees if you use your own payment gateway. This shopping cart supports over 50 payment gateways and you can accept electronic payments or credit cards from companies such as Paypal, Stripe and others.

Volusion offers a 14 day trial, free of charge, risks or credit card details requirements.

Adding and editing products is a simple and straightforward process and you also have helper tooltips next to each attribute of the item.

When it comes to the design of your online store, Volusion offers over 300 templates to choose from, and a lot of them free. Unfortunately, not that many are mobile responsive. Only about 20 of them are. One other downside here is the fact that some templates can be extremely expensive. From the total of about 280 paid templates, almost 80 of them go as high as $895, which is pretty pricey.

If you are still not pleased with their "out of the box" designs, you can still customize a little more, if you feel like

messing around with the code and use the HTML and CSS editors.

Another disadvantage concerning the price is the fact that Volusion makes you purchase SSL certificates with your plan and they are an extra $89/year. And if you want to accept credit card payments, you have to get them, to ensure that your customer's confidential information is protected.

Volusion lets you sell your products through other channels as well, such as Amazon and eBay. It also allows you to translate your store into other languages than English, which can only be good for your business, because this way you can reach more people.

This shopping cart has a very easy to grasp discount system. You can easily set options such as free shipping, discount time limits, you can create coupon codes and so on.

There is also an App Marketplace that lets you install 80 more apps such as Mailchimp, Shipstation, Fraud Score and other useful tools and an iOS and Android support. Volusion also intergrates with Facebook and Twitter.

The software has solid SEO features. You can customize metadata, you can rewrite URLs and make them search engine friendly, you can prevent duplicate content, etc.

It also has an interface that lets you create messages and automatically posts them on your social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

When it comes to customer support, Volusion provides an impressive service. The company offers 24/7 support, via phone, live chat or email. The wait time is way better than the average and you also get customer support right on sign up, no matter what plan you choose. Their staff is there to guide you all the way through setting up your store and you can even speak with them whenever you have a query.

In addition to that, Volusion offers an extensive knowledge base. You have a comprehensive FAQs section, videos, articles and they also host regular webinars.
