Axiom is a company that offers various services for vehicle owners of all types. The company is based in the United States and intertwines technology with its various products, into a modern and more effective approach.

Among others, Axiom offers extended car warranty or vehicle service contracts and these are sold through its online platform called Moxa.

Vehicle service contracts (VSC) are important precautionary measures any car owner should take, especially those with used cars. They continue to offer you peace of mind as a driver even after your manufacturer’s warranty expires. As mileage increases, your vehicle becomes more prone to breakdowns, which are costly both in terms of parts and labor. All cars on the road end up in a repair shop sooner or later and most of the times, car trouble comes unexpectedly. That is why a VSC can save you money, as it will pay for the repairs, as long as they are covered by your chosen policy.

Vehicle service contracts can be bought for 1, 2, 3, 4 years or more, depending on the seller, on how much money you are willing to pay, on your car’s make, age and mileage.

Coverage can vary from just the basic components such as engine, transmission and so on and up to a comprehensive coverage that resembles bumper to bumper warranties.

What does Moxa sell and what are its benefits?

Moxa is also owned by Axiom and it is an ecommerce platform that offers vehicle service contracts via third-parties. Axiom collaborates with over 500 dealerships in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Moxa lets you choose between three levels of protection, depending on how comprehensive the coverage is. The levels are Gold, Silver, Platinum.

The type of coverage offered by Moxa, as well as their deductibles vary from car to car, depending on the age and mileage of the vehicle and on the selected program.

Moxa’s vehicle service contracts start as low as $60 per month. As far as payment goes, you can also pay in monthly installments and you can choose between 12, 24 or 36 installments.

If you opt for Axiom, your car will only be repaired by ASE-Certified mechanics.

How does it work?

In order to find a vehicle service contract that suits you best, you have to go on the Moxa website (moxaprotection.com) and fill in some required information: your car make, its year of production, its mileage and your state.

Once you provide these details, you’ll be presented with their available products, coverage and their prices.

The next step is to create an account and check your VIN (verification identification number). Once you’ve chosen your desired product, the last step is to pay for it in full or to opt for a financing option.

Here is an example: If, for instance, you have a Volkswagen car from 2014, which has 60,000 miles on it, your best offer will be priced at around $3,800. Your estimated monthly payment will be around $134 for 36 monthly installments. You’ll be charged a $250 deductible and you’ll be covered for 3 years (or 45,000 miles, whichever comes first). The coverage period can also drop to 2 or 1 year if you’d like. For the same scenario, a 2-year coverage will cost you $2,845 and a 1-year coverage, $2,360.

The included parts/systems of your car depend on the type of contract you opt for. The simplest, most basic type of coverage includes the engine, transmission, engine cooling, front and rear wheel drive, on-board modules and the air-conditioning.

If you opt for the most complex type of coverage, the following will be included in addition to the above mentioned: brakes, electrical system, front suspension, steering, hybrid/plug-in electric, chassis, navigation, entertainment system.

Axiom offers all the standard benefits included with extended car warranties:

  • 24/7 roadside assistance within US and Canada (including towing assistance, flat tire, lockout assistance, fluid delivery and more); you can benefit from up to 3 such interventions in a year and the cost can’t exceed the $150 threshold per incident
  • Travel breakdown for situations in which your car breaks down further than 100 miles from your home and you need accommodation and money for food; you will be reimbursed with up to $150 per day for up to 3 days
  • Rental vehicle reimbursement for up to 4 days and up to $50 per day

Mobile app via COVI

When you sign up for any of Axiom’s products, you also benefit from their mobile app, COVI (connected owner vehicle intelligence). You can download the app for free regardless whether you are an iOS or Android user, the app is compatible with both.

COVI is useful in several ways: it gives you access to your vehicle ownership data (you can see the duration of your factory warranty, any recall information, suggested maintenance and more), you can check out on all the Axiom’s products from the app, you can schedule services with your dealership, get notifications about your car, you can store in the app all the important documents of your car and more.
