There are several ways to go when you want to create a website. You can either leave the task to a professional or you can do it yourself. Nowadays, technology made it very easy for almost anyone with basic computer knowledge to build a website on their own. All you need is a good website builder, a little patience and some creativity.

When it comes to choosing the right website builder, you first have to decide between offline and online builders. While offline builders might be more complex in features, they are also more expensive and require a certain skill level on your part. For the less tech-savvy out there, we recommend to go with an online service instead.

Benefits of online website builders

One of the most notable advantages of using an online site builder is the fact that it is much easier to use than offline programs. Online site builders are developed in such a way that even the average user can be able to figure out how to use it and easily create a website.

Online builders are fast, most of them will help you create your website within minutes.

They are also more affordable than offline builders.

Another advantage is the fact that they are versatile, allowing you to use them from basically anywhere, as long as you have access to internet. You don’t have to download the program on a computer and be tied down to that one device.

And yet another benefit of online builders is the fact that they are usually offered by hosting companies. That means you don’t have to bother with functionality issues, hosting and maintenance, that’s the company’s problem.

Find out what to look for when choosing a website builder.

Sitey review – is it any good?

Sitey is a newer name on the market. While it was only launched in 2014, it has managed to grow into a popular builder, thanks to its user-friendliness, attractive interface and the fact that it offers a free plan. Sitey is currently owned by Endurance International Group.

Available plans

Sitey is quite generous when it comes to available packages. It has offers for all needs.

Sitey has 4 plans to choose from: the Free plan, Starter, Pro and Ecommerce.

Each plan comes with free hosting, customizable templates and the drag-and-drop editor.

Regardless of the package you choose, you can opt for monthly or yearly billing.

The free plan includes a lot of ads, which might get annoying from a certain point.

The Starter plan is $4.98/month billed monthly and $4.61/billed annually.

Pro is $6.49/month billed monthly and $6.14/billed annually.

The most expensive plan is Ecommerce. It is $12.49/month, billed monthly and $9.99/month billed annually.

All paid plans include pretty much the same features, with some extra ones, depending on the plan.

The common features for the paid plans are customizable templates, no website ads, a domain name, website statistics and ad credits.

The Pro package adds priority support and the Ecommerce plan also includes ecommerce tools.

Getting started

Unlike with other website builders, with Sitey you first have to choose a template. You first get a template selection and once you pick one you like, you can then move forward and register. This way, Sitey wants to give you a taste of what you’ll get right from the get go.

Main features

Sitey is a pretty straightforward website builder, with a simple and clean interface. The drag-and-drop editor makes it very easy to drag and move elements around. You also get useful tips during the building process.

There are hundreds of templates to choose from, and plenty of categories: real estate and architecture, business, computers and technology, hotels and travel, lifestyle, pets and animals, blog, beauty and fashion, music and entertainment, restaurant and eateries, sport and leisure and more.

The templates are customizable and mobile responsive but there are a lot of them that look pretty similar. Fortunately, there are plenty to choose from so you’ll have no problems in finding and personalizing something to your taste.

There are other noteworthy features as well. You’ve got email marketing tools, such as mailing list management, you can make sign up forms to get users to subscribe to your newsletter and more.

In terms of SEO tools, Sitey lets you add and manage meta tags and header/footer.

All plans (except for the free one) also include site statistics. Sitey integrates with Google Analytics, so you can keep tab on your traffic, performance and so on.

You’ve also got blogging features and social media integration with Facebook, Twitter and other platforms.

What is missing from all the packages except the Ecommerce one, are ecommerce features. If you want to create and manage an online store, you have to sign up for their Ecommerce plan, which is also the priciest one.

Sitey offers 24/7 customer support through live chat and email.
