RocketVPN is a VPN released by Liquidum, a mobile app developer based in Ireland. Liquidum is on the market from 2014 and also has offices in Canada.

RocketVPN has native apps for iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded for free from Google Play or Apple’s App Store. It has over 1 million downloads so far.

Why should you use a VPN?

VPNs (virtual private networks) are a great invention that take Internet browsing to another level. Internet security has become a major issue for anyone using the World Wide Web. As marvelous and useful as the Internet can be, it can be equally dangerous, if the right information gets into the wrong hands. Your security can easily be compromised when you’re online, if you don’t use proper tools to protect your identity and data.

Along with antivirus programs, VPNs are among the best solutions to maintaining your online privacy (especially when using public WiFis) and they can do so much more than that. Read more about the benefits of using a VPN.

Why use a VPN on your smartphone?

Our smartphones have become among our most indispensable tools. We use them for communication, social media, entertainment, financial, informational purposes and more. Thanks to the technological advancements and the fact that our mobile phones have become so smart, we no longer rely on our desktop computers and laptops as much as we used to, for getting online. We can connect to the Internet straight from our smartphones. While that has indisputable benefits, it also means we have to continue to take the same security measures as we would with our computers. Our phones are just as vulnerable to online threats.

The most important features of RocketVPN

  • It is a free VPN for iOS and Android devices
  • It includes 250MB of free data usage/month and unlimited bandwidth for users who sign up for the Premium app
  • It can be used with other apps such as WhatsApp, Spotify and more) using the ‘Rocket Launcher’ tool, so that data goes through RocketVPN’s servers, too. You simply create shortcuts to the apps you want to be able to open directly through RocketVPN
  • Doesn’t take up too much space, only has 15MB
  • Very user-friendly interface
  • Can help you unlock geo-restricted content
  • It has servers in the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Australia and more

Why go Premium with RocketVPN?

The free version of the RocketVPN app is a great starting point, if you just want a user-friendly tool to protect your identity while surfing the web. It won’t cost you a cent and it will do its job. However, there is so much more you can get out of RocketVPN if you upgrade to the Premium version.

No ads. The free app comes with ads, but if you opt for the Premium version, you no longer have to get frustrated by them.

Unlimited bandwidth. The free app has a 250MB limit, which is totally insufficient if you plan to do anything else than simply checking your e-mail from time to time. Moreover, if, through a miracle, you do end up with unused MB at the end of those 30 days, they won’t be added to the next month ratio, so you’ll just lose that unused bandwidth. The Premium app offers unlimited bandwidth, so you can stream and browse in peace.

Access to all their servers. The free version only gives you access to the servers located in the US, while the Premium one lets you connect to all their servers.

Higher speed. While the free version is decent in terms of performance, it can get pretty sluggish from time to time. The Premium app is considerably faster.
