Introduction

To determine which VPN provider is truly worth your money, you need to conduct an in-depth side to side test on the features of the top ranked providers. That is exactly what I did with these two closely matched providers and came up with full testing results as discussed in these reviews. If you have been curious to know which provider really ranks the highest between these two, read on to find out. So find out what I found when I installed, ran and tested both CyberGhost and NordVPN to see who was the champion of VPN services right now.

Nordvpn Features

Nord is one of the key players in the VPN industries. The provider is based in Panama, a country with no mandatory data retention and is not subject to 5 or 14 Eyes surveillance. For that reason, Nord strictly doesn’t keep logs of any sort.

The provider also uses a military level of encryption on all its servers. 256-bit AES encryption is impossible to crack and is the best you will find in the market. This is made much better with the fast and secure OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocol which has no known vulnerability to date. In addition, it also uses the latest WireGuard protocol that is supported on Windows, Androids, iOS, Linux, and Mac.

More to security, Nord has built-in leak protection and always passes every test with a zero DNS, WebRTC, and IPv6 leaks. An automatic kill switch is available on every app to successfully secure your data traffic at all times particularly when the VPN connection becomes weak. The provider is also compatible with Tor and has a split tunneling that secures you when you want to browse the local sites and unblock a catalog in another region at the same time.

Nord boasts over 5000 servers in more than 60 countries. Considering the ratio of the number of servers to the location, you are sure to find steady and fast servers around your locality to connect to..

Even better, all the Nord servers have been optimized for securely P2P torrenting. This means that you are guaranteed a speedy download, upload, and sharing of the files wherever you can access the Nord network. To find the server with the best speed, simply select the one which is closer to your location, has the least number of users, and the lowest load percentage. All of these factors are well displayed.

Nord is a great choice when it comes to streaming. The provider can unblock a wider range of streaming services than most of its competitors. Netflix streaming was possible in 99% of its servers. That means that nearly all the servers are optimized for streaming on Netflix. With its ability to unblock over 400 streaming services, you are sure to enjoy BBC iPlayer, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, ESPN, and several other streaming services from wherever you can access the Nord network.

CyberGhost Features

CyberGhost is located in Romania which is outside the 5, 9, or 14 Eye Alliance and has a zero data retention law. With that being said, the provider guarantees a strictly no-log policy. This is one of the most committed providers when it comes to privacy. The company publishes its privacy report every 3 months as a way of protecting the privacy of its users.

Besides, it offers maximum online security thanks to the myriad security features. To begin with, the provider uses a military-level encryption 256-bit AES which is very hard to crack. This is the same encryption used by the military and other government agencies to protect their data.

The strong encryption is backed with a 3 security protocol, namely OpenVPN, IKEv2, and WireGuard. OpenVPN and IKEv2 are fast, secure, and have no known vulnerability and thus highly recommended. However, they are only available on certain apps. For instance, IKEv2 is only available on Windows, Mac, and iOS whereas OpenVPN is only used on Windows, Androids, Linux, and Smart TVs.

The best part is the NoSpy servers that are privately owned for maximum security. These are sets of servers that are operated and managed by internal staff. This is very useful as it reduces the possibility of external security risk.

The provider also passed every test with other security features like zero WebRTC, DSN, and IPv6 leaks. You are also guaranteed an automatic kill switch to successfully secure your data traffic whenever the VPN connection becomes unsteady. Not forgetting split tunneling for Windows and Androids to easily browse the local and unblock overseas contents at the same time.

The provider also boasts the largest network you will find in the market today. With over 6,300 servers in more than 90 countries, you have a higher chance of connecting to a faster server in your locality. Some of its servers are optimized for torrenting and streaming speed and you don’t have to waste time testing every server to find them. They are labeled and they clearly display the number of users, physical distance of the server, and load percentage. For a better torrenting and streaming speed, choose the server with the least number of users, closest distance, and lowest load percentage.

The good news, CyberGhost supports a lot of different devices and can connect to 7 devices in a single subscription. With that being said, if you want to protect multiple devices at your home, CyberGhost is the ideal choice.  If you want to find out even more things they support check out our full VPN Rreviews as we go through all the top VPN providers and rank them for your easy viewing and decision making.

So who is better? CyberGhost or NordVPN?

CyberGhost Vs. NordVPN is a very good head to head comparison. Both provide great service, protection, and features without slowing down your internet connection too mugh.

CyberGhost is known for its larger server network than any other provider you will come across in the market. For that reason, you are guaranteed a more server option to connect to within your locality. While this may guarantee streaming and torrenting speed, this provider doesn’t have as many optimized servers for this activity as Nord.

Nord VPN has all its servers optimized to support  P2P and you can enjoy torrenting wherever you can access the Nord network. CyberGhost on its side has a torrenting optimized server in around 80 locations. That means in some locations you may access their network but you may not be able to torrent. Even worse, we realized that neither Android apps nor iOS has CyberGhost optimized servers for torrenting or downloading.

When it comes to streaming, Nord outshines CyberGhost since it can unblock a wide range of streaming services. To be specific, Nord is programmed to unblock more than 400 streaming sites compared to Cyberghost that can unblock around 35 streaming sites.

Besides, CyberGhost is extremely fast only when you connect to servers nearby. When you connect to servers further away, the streaming and downloading speed decreases. In such a case, you may require a more consistent fast speed provider and that is NordVPN.

When it comes to security, both use military-grade encryption with 3 protocols, namely, OpenVPN, IKEv2, and WireGuard. However, on the part of CyberGhost, the latest WireGhost is only supported on Linux and iOS. In contrast, Nord offers this protocol across all apps.

Cyberghost, however, outshine Nord when it comes to the number of devices you can protect in a single subscription. With this provider, you can connect to 7 devices at the same time compared to Nord that can protect 6 devices in a single subscription. However, CyberGhost apps on some devices particularly Androids and iOS lack a lot of features. For instance, the iOS app lacks even the basics like optimized torrenting servers, malware, and split tunnel features.
