VoIP continues to replace regular telephony in both the domestic and business settings. There are plenty of reasons to switch to internet telephony, but the most notable one is cost. Voice over the Internet Protocol is a versatile and budget-friendly communication technology, especially compared to landlines. It is the best way to save on your phone bill, especially if you know you have to make a lot of long-distance calls.

VoIP works by converting your original analog signal to digital packets of data and that data can be images, audio, text or video. That is a big advantage VoIP has over regular telephony.

VoIP can work in a variety of ways: you can either use VoIP softphones, which is software that you have to install on your device in order to communicate with other users. Most of us have already been using softphones for many years now, even if we didn’t know it: Skype is a good example, as are Viber, WhatsApp and other such apps.

Another way to go is to use VoIP phones, which can be classified in several categories: desk phones, wireless phones, etc.

Both individuals and businesses find VoIP an attractive technology and there are a plethora of companies that offer VoIP services. AxVoice is one of them.

AxVoice Review

AxVoice is a one of the most budget-friendly VoIP service providers you can find on the market. They offer VoIP services for home users and businesses alike and have a lot of plans customers can choose from: residential plans, business plans and international plans.

How much does AxVoice cost?

Residential plans offered by AxVoice

There are 3 residential plans available: USA/Canada Unlimited, US/Canada 200, Pay as You Go.

USA/Canada Unlimited is priced at $8.25/month and includes unlimited calls in US and in Canada.

US/Canada 200 is priced at $5.99/month and includes 200 minutes anywhere in the US and Canada.

Pay as You Go is $4.99/month and you can call anywhere in the US and Canada for only 1.5c/minute.

All three residential plans include the same features offered by AxVoice, which are more than 30. They also come with free equipment and activation.

Business plans offered by AxVoice

There are 2 business plans available: Home Office (SOHO) plan and Small Business Plan.

The Home Office (SOHO) Plan is priced at $14.99/month and includes 200 minutes anywhere in the US and Canada. Among others, you also get conference calling, call forwarding and caller ID with name.

The Small Business Plan is $29.99/month and includes 1500 minutes anywhere in the US and Canada and you also get enhanced voicemail and online account management.

International Plans offered by AxVoice

There are two plans: Residential International and Residential International Plus.

Residential International is $16.58/month and includes unlimited VoIP calling to 45+ international destinations.

Residential International Plus is priced at $29.99/month and you get unlimited calling to 60+ international destinations.

Features included with AxVoice

AxVoice is affordable but without skimping on features. All their plans give you access to the entire set of features, over 30 to be more specific. Here are the most important features you’ll get with AxVoice:

  • 3-way calling
  • Caller ID blocking and international call blocking
  • Call waiting
  • Caller ID
  • Call filter
  • Call forwarding
  • Anonymous call rejection
  • Music on hold
  • Distinctive ring (you can set different ringtones if you have more than one AxVoice number)
  • Do not disturb, a function that redirects all calls to voicemail
  • Blacklist, a feature that allows you to block numbers that you don’t want calling you
  • Failover: this feature forwards your calls to a number chosen by you, in case the internet service provider is down or there’s a power outage
  • Call logs
  • Free in-network calling, a feature that lets you make unlimited calls to other AxVoice numbers free of charge
  • Enhanced voicemail
  • Virtual numbers: you can add numbers from any area code for an additional $3.99/month
  • Toll-free numbers: they can cover Canada and the entire US. For numbers that have US coverage you have to pay $3.99/month, 4.99 cents per minute. For US and Canada coverage you have to pay $5.99/month, 4.99 cents per minute

Regardless of the plan you choose, you are covered by AxVoice’s money back guarantee, although it is only valid for 15 days, which is below the 30-day standard.

AxVoice also allows you to keep your current number if you want.

As you can see, a missing feature is video conferencing, which might be a deal breaker for some, especially for businesses.

In terms of customer support, AxVoice offers 24/7 support via live chat or email, during their customer service hours, which are 8 am to 7 pm EST. No phone support is available.

Overall, AxVoice is a budget-friendly VoIP service provider and has a comprehensive offer when it comes to available plans. The fact that has international plans is a big plus, as is the fact that you can opt for business or residential plans as well.

AxVoice does have its shortcomings though, in terms of features and customer support. It is pretty basic when it comes to features and some are missing, for instance video conferencing. Customer support is also a bit limited and there is no free trial available.
